In any Role-Playing Game (RPG), a highlight is always the quest for a unique, powerful weapon, and that’s precisely what the “Forged of Star-Stuff” quest in Avowed offers. Your task will be to discover the whereabouts of four rare pieces of starmetal scattered across the Living Lands. Once found, you’ll deliver them to the sole blacksmith capable of crafting a top-tier weapon – or if you manage to gather all four pieces, two exceptional quality weapons could be yours instead!
In the game I’m playing, I’ll share where the epic adventure Forged of Star-Stuff concludes, as well as the various weapons you can select as prizes. Each weapon has its unique location, and the quest isn’t considered complete until you gather all four pieces of starmetal. Even if you’re only after one weapon, it’s a good idea to tick this off your list for the XP boost.
Forged of Star-Stuff location and rewards
Where’s the starmetal smithy?
Take a step back from your journey through Forged of Star-Stuff as you can’t finish it until you reach Galawain’s Tusks, the fourth accessible region in Avowed. On your journey, you may encounter blacksmith merchants who will refuse to work with starmetal, no matter where you go. However, you can get some skyets from Kai at one point, when he wagers that a blacksmith in Thirdborn can use it. But don’t be fooled – she won’t be able to. As you might expect, the ability to work with starmetal is exclusive to dwarven smiths.
After gaining access to Solace Keep within Galawain’s Tusks, make your way to the smithy positioned beneath the central region. The newly appointed Forgemaster Dela is eager to assist you. With the four fragments of Avowed’s starmetal (locations provided below), you can have him craft a distinctive sword and arquebus, and enhance both items to exceptional versions. If you opt to upgrade either piece, they will retain their passive effects but receive a new name and improved base statistics.
One starmetal:
- Meteor Blade: 1/3 Superb quality one-handed sword with 120 physical damage and 100 stun
- Lamenting Fury: A full combo attack gives the hit enemy -20% damage for 15 seconds

- Moonstrike: 1/3 Superb quality arquebus with 308 physical damage and 280 stun
- Ondra’s Scorn: Power attacks deal moderate frost accumulation to nearby enemies

- Heavenstrike: 2/3 Superb quality arquebus with 361 physical damage and 308 stun
- Ondra’s Scorn: Power attacks deal moderate frost accumulation to nearby enemies
- Freezine Lash: Hits deal +10% bonus frost damage
Starmetal locations
Starmetal location in Dawnshore
In Dawnshore, you’ll find the starmetal fragment located at an altar devoid of gods, situated within the Southern Embrace region on the map, close to the coastline. There are a few xaurips to deal with in the vicinity of the altar, but it’s generally easy to reach since it’s nestled near both the Emerald Stair Gatehouse beacon and the party camp of Southern Embrace.
Starmetal location in Emerald Stair
The piece of Star Metal found on Emerald Stair is hidden within a small cave known as the Damp Burrow, nestled within the Rolling Crags. This cave is defended by a formidable tier troll named Iscern, who is particularly skilled. The most convenient way to reach this cave is either from the party camp at Damp Burrow if you’ve unlocked it, or from the Ranger Headquarters beacon if not. There are three possible approaches to the cave: you can approach it directly, drop down from a hole in the ground near the pond situated above, or sneak into an abandoned house nearby and break through the floorboards to gain access.
Starmetal location in Shatterscarp
In the same deserted mine near Thirdorn, where you meet Ruanga during the “One Last Drink” mission, is where you’ll find the starmetal fragment in Shatterscarp. Look for the mine entrance in a small gap west of the Thirdborn camp. Instead of going into Ruanga’s hideout, veer to your left and continue climbing up and around the ridge in a counterclockwise direction. You’ll eventually reach a small plateau that’s directly above the camp. There won’t be any battles there; you can easily claim it without causing a commotion.
Starmetal location in Galawain’s Tusks
The fragment of Starmetal in Galawain’s Tusks is hidden deep within the Ash Forest, specifically in its northwestern region as indicated on your map. The most convenient approach would be via the Primordial Depths party camp or the Ash Forest beacon. Remarkably, this location also houses a bounty for Destul, which you’ll find posted in Solace Keep. It’s advisable to accept this bounty for an efficient journey since it leads straight to the end of the map. However, before claiming the Starmetal fragment, you must first defeat Destul, the revenant. After defeating him, venture down into the crater where you’ll find the Starmetal piece waiting at its center.
