Scrappy, the adorable companion from the game ARC Raiders, has quickly become a fan favorite. One player recently shared a clever idea on Reddit: a backpack with a window so Scrappy could ‘join’ raids! The user posted a picture of a raider wearing the backpack, with Scrappy visible inside. It’s a cosmetic suggestion that would let players bring their little scrap-collecting friend along for the adventure, even if just for fun.
ARC Raiders is a game that frequently updates its in-game store with new cosmetic items players can buy. Recently, fans have been requesting a specific item – nicknamed the “Scrappy Capsule” or “Scrapsule” – and believe it would be a great addition. A post titled “The only cosmetic I would pay hard cash for” sparked a lot of agreement, with many players saying they’d happily purchase this item and a matching rooster companion to take with them on adventures.
Scrappy Is Immensely Popular in the ARC Raiders Community
Video game companions are often loved for the personality they bring to a game, but some are genuinely helpful during gameplay. Scrappy from ARC Raiders is one of those companions, offering both charm and practical benefits. He not only makes the game more enjoyable but also helps players by gathering useful items and can even be customized, creating a sense of connection and support.
In ARC Raiders, players gather lots of materials, and many recipes need the same basic ones. But carrying those common items can take up valuable space when you’re trying to collect rare loot. That’s where Scrappy the rooster comes in! While you’re exploring, Scrappy searches for those essential, everyday materials and brings them back to Speranza for you to collect. He’s basically a helpful way to automatically gather the materials you always need, ensuring you don’t run out when you’re out in the world.
Here is everything Scrappy passively collects in ARC Raiders:
- Metal Parts
- Fabric
- Plastic Parts
- Chemicals
- Rubbert Parts
- Assorted Seeds
It’s no surprise that Scrappy has become a fan favorite in ARC Raiders, but his origin story is pretty unique. The developers at Embark Studios initially planned for a practical resource-producer, like a robot or drone. However, the idea for a rooster came about unexpectedly! During a Zoom meeting, a real rooster named Hakan – along with a flock of chickens – wandered into one of the developer’s parents’ homes, and he ended up inspiring the design of Scrappy, the game’s resourceful rooster.
Players Have Ideas About How the Scrapsule Could Work Mechanically
I love the idea of being able to bring Scrappy along on raids in ARC Raiders – a “Scrapsule” outfit would be awesome! But it does make me think about how it would actually work. Scrappy’s really useful because he gathers materials while we’re out raiding, so locking him in a backpack the whole time would kind of defeat the purpose. Maybe they could add a note saying he doesn’t collect anything while the outfit’s on? Also, I worry about what happens to Scrappy if my Raider goes down, but honestly, the community’s already come up with some clever ideas to deal with that, which is great to see!
A popular comment on a Reddit post about the game ARC Raiders jokingly suggests that Scrappy, the player’s backpack, should safely eject when the player is downed. Other commenters built on this idea, imagining Scrappy launching back to the game’s base, Speranza, like a rocket, or even replacing the downed player flare with Scrappy shooting out in an escape pod. While Speranza is actually located below the player, some joked Scrappy could even function as a drill. It’s clear that fans of the little rooster are determined to have him included in every raid!
Although it’s doubtful we’ll see this particular outfit offered for sale in ARC Raiders, it’s not completely out of the question considering how skins work in the game. Right now, it’s just a wish among players, but Embark has shown they’ll consider fan requests if enough people ask for them.
