Axemaul is hidden inside the Abandoned Auger Mine, but it’s a bit harder to find than other mines in Kairos. Players are heading to the Toil of Spoiling Vis to hunt Axemaul for his valuable Legendary items. Our guide will show you exactly where the mine is, when it’s available to enter, and how to safely make your way through the caves to defeat Axemaul and claim his powerful rewards.
How to Find Axemaul and The Toil of Spoiling Vis in Borderlands 4
You can find Axemaul inside the Abandoned Auger Mine, which is part of the Toils of Spoiling Vis area in Dominion’s Carcadia District. To reach this area, players must first finish the Main Mission called ‘The Falling Wall’.
After gaining access to Dominion, go back to the Final Defiance Fast Travel Station in the Carcadia District and head down the slope into Dominion. Immediately turn left and follow the path to reach the Mine: The Toil of Spoiling Vis. From there, jump down the elevator shaft to start exploring the Auger Mine and find Axemual.
How to Get Through the Toil of Spoiling Vis in Borderlands 4
After you go down the elevator shaft in the Toil of Spoiling Vis, head north until you find a cave entrance. Go through the cave and drop down to find an old Ripper drill. The Phase portal is right behind it. Use your grapple hook to enter the portal and jump across the platforms to a room full of Vending Machines. This is the last place to get supplies before the Axemaul fight, so make sure you buy plenty of ammo, and bring weapons that deal Corrosive, Cryo, and Incendiary damage!
How to Beat Axemaul (& Legendary Drops) in Borderlands 4
Legendary | Type | Special Effect |
---|---|---|
Bod | Shotgun | All-Arounder – Counts as a Shotgun, an Assault Rifle, a Sniper Rifle, a Pistol, and an SMG. |
Buzz Axe | Throwing Knife | Makeshift |
Kill Spring | Repkit | Blood Siphon – On kill, converts 100% of any excess Damage into Healing Orbs that seek out nearby allies |
Okay, so as a fan, let me tell you, farming for Buzz Axe and Bod is totally worth it! Buzz Axe is an amazing Throwing Knife, seriously powerful. But Bod is the real MVP – it’s one of those weapons that counts for *everything* when you’re doing Challenges. Like, it covers SMG, Shotgun, Pistol, Assault Rifle, *and* Sniper requirements all in one! It saves so much time and inventory space, it’s a game changer.
Axemaul seems scary, but he’s a pretty typical boss fight. This large Mangler actually carries an axe in his mouth! He’ll attack from afar by swinging the axe like a chain, and he can also jump at you, slashing wildly and inflicting burning damage. The key to defeating Axemaul is to be constantly on the offensive, keeping your distance and using explosive and elemental weapons to gradually wear him down as he tries to get close.
To defeat Axemaul, use weapons that deal Corrosive or Cryo damage against his armored first health bar. Once that’s down, switch to Incendiary weapons to target his fleshy second health bar. And if you’re hoping to get the Buzz Axe Grenade, keep fighting Axemaul – it’s one of the rare items he can drop.
