Baby Steps is Yet Another Game Delayed Due to Silksong

Due to the anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Baby Steps has become the fifth game to be postponed. Yesterday, the indie RPG Demonschool moved its launch date to November in an effort to dodge Silksong’s release. Now, even a game backed by Devolver Digital is making room for Hollow Knight: Silksong by delaying its own launch.

For individuals who may not be familiar, Baby Steps is the latest creation by game designer Bennett Foddy, known for his games QWOP and Getting Over It which brought both delight and frustration to players. The demanding gameplay was appreciated by both YouTubers and streamers, leading to high anticipation for the new project, Baby Steps. Unfortunately, it appears that we’ll need to wait a few more weeks before getting our hands on it.

Baby Steps Throws Shade at Silksong Over Delay

Today, Devolver Digital shared a video announcement about the postponement of Baby Steps. Originally scheduled for September 8th, 2025, the game’s release has been moved to September 23rd, 2025. In the video, the main character can be seen strolling on a replica of Hornet, the protagonist from Silksong. Given that Team Cherry’s spinoff, Silksong, is highly anticipated, it appears likely that the delay is at least partly due to its development.

Bennett Foddy’s “Baby Steps” has been added to a lineup of five other indie games that have been postponed following the announcement of “Silksong” last week. The titles being pushed back include “CloverPit”, “Stomp and the Sword of Miracles”, “Aeterna Lucis”, “Demonschool”, and most recently, “Baby Steps”.

The highly anticipated game “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” one of the most wishlisted games on Steam, is set to release in just under two weeks (September 4th). This impending launch has stirred up quite a frenzy within the independent gaming community as many developers fear that their titles might be overshadowed by the massive attention “Silksong” will receive. Even prior to the delay, well-known developer Bennett Foddy voiced similar concerns via Aftermath, stating that gamers’ focus will primarily be on “Silksong” next week.
