The incredible success of Ball X Pit took everyone by surprise. It’s fantastic news for Kenny Sun and Devolver Digital, and as a thank you to players, they’re releasing a free expansion called the Regal Update.
Despite its simple name, Ball X Pit is a game where you go deeper and deeper into a hole, using different balls to defeat enemies and collect rewards. The further you go, the more challenging it becomes, but it’s proven to be very popular! The game has already earned over 1 million dollars in sales and continues to grow.

When Is Ball X Pit Regal Update Coming Out?
The Ball X Pit Regal Update is scheduled to launch in January 2026. While the specific release date hasn’t been announced, January 2026 is confirmed as the launch timeframe.
On January 7th, the Ball X Pit X team published a message to let players know that the first major update with new content was on its way.
We’re excited to announce our first free downloadable content is coming this month! We’ll share more details soon, but it will include features many players have requested since the game launched.
As of today, January 8th, the new update should be coming very soon. We’ll share more information about its release as it becomes available.
What’s Included With Ball X Pit Regal Update?
Kenny Sun hasn’t shared all the specifics about the Regal Update yet, but he says it will include features suggested by the community and at least two new characters.
The BALL x PIT Roadmap 2026 video gave us a preview of upcoming features. Here’s what’s planned for updates:
- New Balls
- New Evolutions
- New Buildings
- New Characters
Expect more content to be added later. It’s currently unclear whether everything will be included in each new release.
Wow, Ball X Pit totally surprised me this year – it’s honestly one of the most enjoyable indie games I’ve played!
