Battlefield 6 Aim Assist Changes Are Coming, Devs Confirm

The lead designer for controller settings in the next Battlefield game has announced they’re going back to the aim assist settings used in the open beta test.

It’s been almost a month since Battlefield 6 launched, and over a week since its battle royale mode, REDSEC, became available. The developers are now planning updates and fixes to improve the game for players. One of the key changes coming soon will be to the aim assist feature on consoles.

Battlefield 6 Will Revert to Open Beta Aim Assist Settings

Battlefield 6 will soon have its aim assist adjusted. Matthew Nickerson, a lead designer for the game’s console controls, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that they’re rolling back the recent changes. He responded to player feedback noting that the current aim assist settings were making it obvious when opponents were using controllers, and stated they’ll be returning to the original settings soon.

We are reverting back to OB AA settings here shortly.

Regarding the aim assist in the Battlefield 6 open beta versus the final game, Nickerson stated that the beta version will have a much weaker ‘stickiness,’ preventing the frustrating ‘rotational persistence’ some players are experiencing now. He also clarified that recoil reduction and aim assist are handled by separate systems, and both will be tweaked when the beta’s aim assist settings are implemented. Importantly, Nickerson confirmed that player settings won’t be reset.

Here’s an update on Battlefield 6: players have been curious about the ‘take a shower’ screen, and a new casual mode has been added featuring 32 bots per game.
