According to a recent report, the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode, now called RedSec (previously Firestorm), will launch with support for two-player duos and larger squads. It’s expected to be released unexpectedly on October 28th.
A new rumor suggests an exciting feature might be coming to the game mode. Although not officially confirmed, the source who shared this information has accurately revealed details about the mode – including its name – in the past.
Duos and Squads Are Only Team Options for Battlefield 6 RedSec, Claims Insider
Here’s the plan for the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale (RedSec) launch: we’re starting with only Duos (teams of 2) and Squads (teams of 4). With a maximum of 100 players per match, that means either 25 teams of 4 or 50 teams of 2 will be competing in each RedSec game.

A recent post on ModernWarzone, which we covered yesterday, suggests that the battle royale mode in the next Battlefield game will initially only support Duos (two-player teams) and Squads (four-player teams). According to the insider, this limitation is only planned for the game’s launch, and larger team sizes might be added later. They explain that a 100-player battle royale could be achieved with either 50 teams of two or 25 teams of four.
With 100 players competing, this game is set to be a huge event. EA’s shooter has quickly become very popular since launching in October. Although the unexpected release wasn’t originally planned, it’s likely to be a massive success. Similar games like Fortnite and Call of Duty have already explored this style of gameplay, so it makes sense that Battlefield is following suit. However, some players might be disappointed that the game doesn’t support solo play or teams larger than five.
