Battlefield 6 Changes Controversial Feature, But Fans Still Want More

Before its official release on October 10th, Battlefield 6 has updated its spotting system, which had been a point of contention for players. However, many fans are still hoping for more changes before the game launches. Although Battlefield 6 is already seen as a big improvement over the 2021 version, the community wants to see a few more tweaks in the coming weeks.

Players have been asking for changes to how spotting works in *Battlefield 6*, and many also felt the movement was too fast after the first public test last month. The developers at Battlefield Studios listened to this feedback and announced they’re adjusting how players move to make the game feel more like classic *Battlefield* titles. Specifically, they’ve reduced how much speed you carry from sliding into a jump, and doing multiple jumps in a row will now result in lower jumps.

Battlefield 6 Makes Big Change to Spotting Markers

After improvements to how the game handles movement, players turned their attention to a problem with the spotting feature in *Battlefield 6*. It was too easy to spot enemies from long distances, leading to complaints about simply “shooting at Doritos” (triangular shapes, referencing the spot marker). Developer Matthew Nickerson promised a fix before the game’s official launch, stating the spotting range would be reduced. Now, the studio has implemented a change that many fans are celebrating: enemies who haven’t been fully spotted now appear with a hollow marker, a feature players had requested. While happy with this adjustment, some still hope the size of the markers will be further reduced.

The recent change to enemy markers has drawn criticism from some players. Some questioned the need for the markers at all, suggesting they be removed for enemies who haven’t been detected. Reddit user MysticMarauder69 pointed out that the existing large markers already indicate an enemy’s location, asking why the additional markers are necessary. Others share this view, believing the spotting mechanic in *Battlefield 6* still needs adjustments. User BrokenSil explained that the large markers make the game feel too fast-paced, as players no longer need to visually identify enemies, reducing the sense of danger.

The upcoming *Battlefield* game is looking to be the largest in the series so far, but EA recently clarified some details about crossplay. Previously, a developer mentioned that players on Xbox and PlayStation would still be able to play together even with crossplay disabled. However, EA has confirmed that’s incorrect. If crossplay is turned off, PlayStation players will only be matched with other PlayStation players, and Xbox players will only play with other Xbox players.
