Battlefield 6 Confirms Planned Vehicle Improvements After Admitting They’re ‘Death Traps’ Right Now

Following player feedback that some vehicles felt too vulnerable, the developers of Battlefield 6 are planning to test improvements. These changes will first be available in Battlefield Labs, a testing environment, before being added to the main game if they prove successful.

While Battlefield 6 started strong, it’s been losing players in recent months. Despite new updates and content, keeping players engaged has been difficult for the developers at Battlefield Studios. The fact that Battlefield 6 Season 2 didn’t bring a significant increase in players is worrying. It’s not entirely clear why people aren’t returning to the game, but players have been vocal about their concerns since launch. Many have complained about the vehicle gameplay – a key part of the Battlefield experience – and the developers are working on improvements.

Battlefield 6 Developer Calls Light Vehicles a ‘Death Trap’ But Tests Are On The Way

DICE is addressing player feedback that light vehicles in Battlefield 6 are too fragile. Kit Eklöf, a hardware producer at DICE, said the team is aware of the issue and plans to test improvements through the upcoming Battlefield Labs program. Players participating in Battlefield Labs will get a chance to try out these vehicle changes before they’re released in the main game. While the specific improvements haven’t been detailed yet, Eklöf encourages players to watch for the Labs update to test them out.

Battlefield Labs was a helpful testing ground for Battlefield Studios to get player feedback on the game before it launched. It was surprisingly available even before the game was officially announced, and leaks quickly spread the word about it. After launch, Battlefield Labs was briefly shut down while the developers focused on feedback from the live game. However, Battlefield Studios has occasionally reopened it since then, as it’s a valuable way to test big changes without affecting the experience for the majority of players.

We understand concerns about vehicle safety. We’re working on improvements and will be testing them in Labs soon, so please watch for updates.

Battlefield 6’s Season 2 began on February 17th with the release of the ‘Extreme Measures’ update, which included the new ‘Decontaminated’ map. The game’s developers have two more updates planned for the season: ‘Nightfall’ on March 17th and ‘Hunter/Prey’ on April 14th. These updates will add even more maps and game modes. Players hope that these improvements will also address vehicle gameplay, bringing it in line with the quality of previous Battlefield games. It’s still uncertain if this new content will be enough to attract players back to the game.
