Battlefield 6 Devs: ‘Large Maps Exist’ Outside of the Beta

Developers of Battlefield 6 have assured players that they can expect to discover even larger play areas, beyond those demonstrated during the open beta.

1. Battlefield 6 is doing exceptionally well as its open beta has seen impressive numbers. Interestingly, we’ve discovered that the game has already sold over 600,000 copies on Steam and amassed more than 2.7 million wishlists. Additionally, a new map and modes will be introduced during the upcoming beta weekend. Yet, it appears there are even larger maps beyond those available in BF6’s Open Beta.

2. The open beta for Battlefield 6 is going strong with substantial participation, and we’ve got some exciting numbers to back that up: over 600,000 copies sold on Steam and nearly 3 million wishlists! In the coming beta weekend, players can expect new maps and modes. However, it looks like there are even bigger maps waiting outside of Battlefield 6’s Open Beta.

Battlefield 6’s Larger Maps Will be Shown ‘Soon Enough’

According to GameRant, David Sirland, the lead producer for Battlefield at DICE, recently mentioned that some players have expressed concerns about the maps being too small and the gameplay being too fast in Battlefield 6’s open beta. In response, Sirland explained on X (previously Twitter) that the compact map sizes were deliberate as they aimed to deliver the high-octane Battlefield experience for Battlefield 6 during the beta. This also allows developers to demonstrate their ability to manage such an intense version of Battlefield 6 during testing.

In a nutshell, Sirland notes that the speed of the game is directly linked to the size of the map. This could potentially make the gameplay seem excessively fast for some players. Yet, within Battlefield 6, large maps do exist, and their pace adapts accordingly. Moreover, the lead producer hinted at the imminent arrival of these expansive Battlefield 6 maps.

In our selection process, we prioritized map size as a key element to ensure an optimal gaming experience for the high-intensity version of Battlefield. By choosing these specific maps, we aim to demonstrate not only our ability to deliver such intensity but also give players an immersive experience that matches the scale and tempo of large maps. You’ll witness this in action very soon!
