Battlefield 6 Fans Can Get Hyped By Watching This Movie and Show

Currently, the Battlefield series finds itself in an unusual situation. The latest release, Battlefield 2042, faced significant issues at launch and hasn’t fully rebounded since. As for the upcoming Battlefield installment, its title remains undisclosed, but sneak peeks of it have already surfaced online. Given the current struggles of the Battlefield series, it’s clear that developer DICE has a challenging task ahead with Battlefield 6, or whatever the game ultimately gets named. Fortunately, early glimpses suggest the next entry in the franchise looks quite promising.

Over the past few months, Electronic Arts (EA) has been conducting exclusive playtests for the upcoming “Battlefield” title in North America and Europe. Despite being asked not to share their experiences with the game, many participants have been vocal about their positive impressions so far. It appears that “Battlefield 6” will keep several elements from its predecessors that made the series popular, like destructible environments, compact multiplayer battles, and a contemporary setting. Sadly, we won’t see the release of the game any time soon; however, there are a couple of movies and shows connected to it that fans might find interesting while they wait for the official launch.

Battlefield Fans Should Watch Civil War and Lioness in Preparation for BF6

Battlefield 6’s Single-Player Campaign Was Inspired by War-Themed Films & TV Shows

In an interview with Inverse, team members at EA Motive, the studio developing the single-player mode for Battlefield 6, revealed some insights about their sources of inspiration. Roman Campos-Oriola, the game’s creative director, admitted to being a fan of the TV series Lioness, which has impacted Battlefield 6’s storyline. On the other hand, executive producer Philippe Ducharme mentioned that the 2024 film Civil War was used as a reference for certain aspects that EA Motive is emphasizing in Battlefield 6.

Lioness is an Espionage TV Show from the Creator of Yellowstone

It’s likely that many gamers are unfamiliar with “Lioness”, a spy thriller TV series on Paramount+, or “Civil War”, as these shows aren’t exactly household names despite their positive reception in recent years. Created by Taylor Sheridan, known for producing “Yellowstone”, “Lioness” premiered in July 2023 and is inspired by real events. The story revolves around a CIA operative named Joe who assembles a team of female agents, the Lionesses, to combat terrorism.

Civil War is a Political Thriller Movie That Was Written and Directed by Alex Garland

Despite sharing a common theme of war in their titles, “Civil War” and “Lioness” present distinct narratives. “Civil War,” directed by Alex Garland, is an exhilarating action-thriller that follows a group of war journalists traveling from New York City to Washington D.C., aiming to interview the U.S. President amidst a civil conflict. Notably, Garland has also contributed to the screenplay of “Ex Machina” and the video games “Enslaved: Odyssey to the West” and “DmC: Devil May Cry.” Produced by A24, this film marked one of their costliest productions to date.

Battlefield 6’s Campaign Will Focus on the Concept of Ordinary People in Extraordinary Situations

Some might be curious about the connection between “Battlefield 6”, “Civil War”, and “Lioness” due to their apparent differences. However, according to Campos-Oriola, both “Civil War” and “Lioness” share a common theme: they depict ordinary people with exceptional abilities dealing with extraordinary situations. It seems that EA Motive is aiming to incorporate this narrative element into the single-player campaign of “Battlefield 6”. In Campos-Oriola’s view, having regular individuals thrust into unusual circumstances fosters intriguing dynamics in interpersonal relationships.
