Fans of the upcoming *Battlefield 6* are noticing changes to some of the game’s special Phantom Edition skins, and it’s happening just weeks before the game releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There’s been a lot of talk recently about cosmetic items in popular shooters like *Call of Duty: Black Ops 7* and *Battlefield 6*, and some players are even cancelling their pre-orders because they believe a few of the skins have been subtly altered.
As a long-time Call of Duty fan, I have to say things really came to a head with Black Ops 6. The cosmetic items had gotten out of hand, and when Black Ops 7 was announced, the community made it clear we weren’t happy with where the series was going. Thankfully, Activision and Treyarch listened! They admitted the games had lost their way and announced they were getting rid of the Carry Forward feature, which a lot of us were upset about. Now, we’re all starting to worry the same thing might happen with Battlefield 6, so fans are really pushing EA to avoid making the same mistakes as Activision.
Battlefield 6’s Phantom Edition Skins May Have Been Updated
Players are unhappy with a leaked skin for the upcoming *Battlefield 6*, and many are asking for realistic cosmetic options only. It seems this feedback may have reached EA, as Battlefield Intel – a Twitter account followed by Insider Gaming – believes the publisher has subtly altered the game’s Phantom Edition skins. While the changes seem small to some, the account shared a comparison screenshot showing the potential differences.
Some players have noticed a possible change to the skins in *Battlefield 6*’s Phantom Edition. While lighting might be the reason, the red color seems less intense than before. More noticeably, the night vision goggles on the soldier model now sit lower on the head and appear smaller. EA hasn’t confirmed any changes, but many players are upset about the potential adjustments. One player was so dissatisfied they requested a refund, claiming the current skins don’t match what they originally saw when they bought the Phantom Edition.
Recently, a developer working on *Battlefield 6* addressed concerns about overly flashy or unrealistic character skins appearing in other popular first-person shooters like *Call of Duty*. They promised *Battlefield 6* will focus on a more realistic and gritty experience, and won’t follow those trends. Matthew Nickerson, a senior combat designer, pointed to the recent in-game rewards system for *Battlefield 2042* as an example of the type of practical and believable character designs players can anticipate in the new game.
