Battlefield 6 Is Encouraging Players to Uninstall the Campaign, But for Good Reason

After finishing the single-player portion of Battlefield 6, the game actually prompts players to uninstall it to save storage space on their PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. While Battlefield 6 doesn’t take up as much hard drive space as games like God of War Ragnarok or ARK: Survival Ascended, the developers at DICE are still encouraging players to delete the campaign to create more free space.

The newest *Battlefield* game arrived on October 10th after a four-year wait, and it’s been largely praised by both players and reviewers. While the multiplayer is a hit, the single-player campaign is getting a more mixed reaction. Many players have criticized the campaign’s artificial intelligence and uninspired story, and it’s relatively short, with only nine missions taking around 4-5 hours to complete. This may disappoint players who were hoping for a substantial single-player experience for the $70 price tag.

Battlefield 6 Wants You to Uninstall the Campaign

Players who finished the entire campaign in *Battlefield 6* are now seeing a strange message: DICE is suggesting they delete the campaign files after completion. The game prompts them to either replay for challenges or uninstall the single-player mode to free up storage space. While unusual for a major game to encourage deleting content, game file sizes are getting increasingly large, forcing players to be more selective about what they install.

The newest *Battlefield* game lets players customize their installation, choosing only the parts they want. This feature, already popular in games like *Call of Duty*, gives players more control over their downloads and storage space. For example, if you’re not interested in the game’s story mode, you can skip downloading it. Similarly, if you only plan to play the single-player campaign, you don’t need to install the multiplayer portion.

Even though the launch wasn’t incredibly hyped, *Battlefield 6* is currently the top-selling game in the UK. Players are really enjoying the multiplayer experience, which is probably why it’s outselling other physical copies like *EA Sports FC 26* and *Ghost of Tsushima*. This success isn’t surprising for those who participated in the *Battlefield 6* beta – it became incredibly popular, breaking the record for the most players on Steam with over 521,000 concurrent users, surpassing even *Call of Duty*.
