- EA recently announced Battlefield Labs, a new testing program that will allow fans to play a pre-alpha build of the next entry.
According to a recently re-emerged rumor, there’s growing confidence among fans that the upcoming installment of Battlefield, often referred to as Battlefield 6, might incorporate a multiplayer map inspired by one of Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster films – Tenet. The highly anticipated Battlefield game is currently being extensively tested, but a leak from last year, initially dismissed as false, now seems authentic and offers several intriguing details about the next Battlefield title developed by EA and DICE.
In the realm of first-person shooter games, Battlefield and Call of Duty are regularly recognized as two titans. While Call of Duty consistently releases new installments every year, it’s been over three years since a fresh Battlefield game graced our screens, making this the longest gap between main titles in the series’ history. The lukewarm reception to the controversial launch of Battlefield 2042 might be the reason behind this delay. Given that EA is now conducting extensive playtests for the next game, it seems they are determined to rectify any issues from the past.
Battlefield 6 Leak Suggests One Map Inspired by Tenet
This week, EA unveiled a new testing ground called Battlefield Labs where fans can register and play an early version of the upcoming Battlefield game. This pre-alpha build will help EA and DICE gather as much feedback as possible from the gaming community before the game’s official release. Interestingly, some Reddit users have discovered that the launch of Battlefield Labs and the code name for the game, Glacier, suggests a September 2024 leak might be genuine. The original leaker, who claims to have taken part in a private playtest for Battlefield 6, revealed one of the three maps they played bore a resemblance to the final battle scene from Tenet, a popular 2020 film by Christopher Nolan.
Contrary to the speculation that the upcoming Battlefield game might be Bad Company 3, it seems that’s not the case. However, one detail from the leak has been confirmed – the codename of the next Battlefield is indeed Glacier, as fans have found evidence in files and images using this name. This suggests that most of the information from the playtester might be accurate, including their descriptions about destruction, weapons, maps (with three allegedly being Eastwood, Tungsten, and Abbasid/n), and more. The leaker claims that Eastwood is set in the Hollywood Hills, Tungsten resembles the final battle scene of Tenet, while Abbasid/n shares similarities with Dust2 or Showdown from COD 4.
The person provided many more details too, such as insights into the game’s destruction, which seems like a major draw considering the brief sneak peek of pre-alpha gameplay. Fortunately, some devoted fans will shortly have an opportunity to try out the upcoming Battlefield title themselves, since Battlefield Labs registration is now open. As stated by EA, this playtest enables fans to experiment with crucial mechanics from Battlefield 6 and offer valuable input to the developers.
