Participants in the pre-launch trial for what’s being referred to as Battlefield 6 are being advised to remove Valorant from their PCs due to a clash in their anti-cheat software. Although Battlefield 6 is garnering significant attention ahead of its official release in October, some players are expressing dissatisfaction with this prerequisite. In fact, a few have opted to buy the game for consoles instead.
During the open beta from August 9-10, Battlefield 6 set a new record with over 470,000 simultaneous players on Steam, marking the most successful open beta in the series’ history. Players have been praising the game for its impressive gunplay and sound design, as well as its destructible environments and innovative features like reviving downed allies while dragging them. However, some players think that certain weapons need adjustments, but these issues are expected to be addressed by the development team before Battlefield 6’s release on October 10.
Battlefield 6 Players Need to Uninstall Valorant Due to Conflicting Anti-Cheat Software
In a recent tweet, user Revolutionary Sun mentioned an issue they encountered when attempting to start Battlefield 6. A pop-up message indicated that Valorant needed to be removed first because of a conflict between Electronic Arts (EA) and Riot Games’ anti-cheat software. Both the EA tool named Javelin and Riot Vanguard require access at the kernel level to start. Although some Reddit users are humorously suggesting that EA is inadvertently helping players by asking them to uninstall Valorant, many others are annoyed at the necessity of removing other games to run Battlefield 6. With over 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with Battlefield 6 already blocked since its open beta early access began on August 7, EA’s anti-cheat software is working intensely for the upcoming title.
In simpler terms, when Battlefield 6 debuts, it will be the first game in the series to incorporate EA’s advanced anti-cheat system, Javelin, which was initially released as EA Anticheat in 2022 and has since been significantly upgraded. However, some players are cautious about kernel-level programs like Javelin because they have direct access to a user’s computer, potentially causing issues or having vulnerabilities that could jeopardize a player’s personal data.

At the outset of its open beta testing period, Battlefield 6 surpassed the simultaneous user record set by Battlefield 2042, indicating a strong anticipation among gamers for the franchise to regain its past prestige. Launched in 2021, Battlefield 2042 received a blend of mediocre reviews from critics and predominantly negative feedback from players. Upon release, it was fraught with technical problems and gameplay modifications that were met with disapproval by the fanbase.
