Battlefield 6 Open Beta Smashes a Franchise Record

The open beta for Battlefield 6 has broken records, marking the largest in the Battlefield series’ history. Although the game won’t be fully released until October 10, 2025, as part of Electronic Arts’ long-standing shooter franchise, it’s already showing promising signs. The ongoing open beta for Battlefield 6 is propelling the series to unprecedented levels.

The newest Battlefield game from EA is receiving significant focus on playtesting, as demonstrated by the initiation of the closed beta program, Battlefield Labs, on March 7. This period led to numerous game adjustments based on player input. Now, the Battlefield Studios team is continuing this pattern with an open beta, and it’s been quite popular thus far.

Battlefield 6 Has the Biggest Open Beta of Any Battlefield Game

On August 9th, the authentic Battlefield Twitter handle verified the news – two days after Early Access players gained beta access and coinciding with the full commencement of the beta. Electronic Arts (EA) didn’t disclose specific numbers, but it’s evident that the new game exceeded expectations by not only breaking previous records but shattering them. The Battlefield 6 title peaked at a staggering 473,632 simultaneous players on Steam, making it the highest-played game in the franchise and not just those with a publicly accessible beta. At that time, it also secured the position of the fourth most-played game on Steam.

The series hasn’t had the advantage of a successful recent release, either. Battlefield 2042, unfortunately, failed to impress both critics and consumers when it was launched.

The game, specifically Battlefield 6, still has room to establish new series records, with its open beta resuming on August 14 and concluding on August 17. While it’s uncertain if the number of participants will reach the record-breaking levels achieved during the initial weekend, the Battlefield franchise appears to have recovered swiftly from its previous underperforming title. The full release may not necessarily be as successful, but so far, everything indicates a positive trend.
