Players of Battlefield 6 are expressing disappointment with the recently released Blackwell Fields map, which came with Season One. While the start of a new season is usually exciting for the Battlefield 6 community, many gamers feel the map’s design, particularly its large, open spaces, isn’t well-executed.
October 28th was set to be a big day for Battlefield fans, with the start of Season One and the release of Battlefield REDSEC, a free battle royale mode. However, players immediately ran into problems, experiencing long waits just to log in to Battlefield 6. Now, it appears another issue has surfaced with the launch.
Battlefield 6 Players Think Blackwell Fields is Too Small and Open
Players aren’t happy with the new “Blackfield Fields” map in Battlefield 6. A popular Reddit post called it the worst map ever made for the Battlefield series, and many others agree. The main issues are that the map is small, feels restrictive, and has too much open space. This forces players into the same areas, making them easy targets for snipers, sometimes immediately after spawning. The close proximity of the bases also contributes to the problem.
On top of everything else, the map has several strange bugs. One player reported unexpectedly starting to fly while simply walking. Others have noted that the map feels overcrowded with vehicles, lacks any significant high ground, and has areas where it’s impossible to get behind enemies. The community generally agrees that this new map isn’t very good, especially considering how positively the full Battlefield 6 game was received.
Players have been frustrated for some time that the maps in Battlefield 6 feel too cramped, and the first new map doesn’t seem to fix this issue. Although some of the launch maps were bigger than those in the beta test, Battlefield 6 still largely features small play areas.
It’s good to see some fans are already enjoying the map in Battlefield REDSEC. Called Fort Lydon, it features a total of 21 different locations. This gives players a lot more variety, and if they get bored with the new Season One map, they can switch to REDSEC for a wider range of options.
