Players of the upcoming game, Battlefield 6, are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction over how the sliding mechanic is implemented, arguing that it’s too powerful and is being misused excessively. With roughly two months remaining until the official release on October 10, these beta testers are urgently requesting the developers to reconsider and potentially modify the sliding function before launch.
The initial two-day open beta testing for Battlefield 6 commenced on August 9, and another round is scheduled from August 14 to 17. Remarkably, the first testing session has demonstrated impressive success, attracting a large number of players that position Battlefield 6 as a potential rival or even surpassor in popularity compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, slated for release before the end of 2025.
Sliding in Battlefield 6 Is Causing Problems
During the open beta of Battlefield 6, player numbers have surpassed series records, with over 470,000 concurrent players on Steam. Simultaneously, the pre-release version of the game provides the development team valuable insights into aspects that gamers feel could benefit from modifications. One such issue seems to be the immediate sliding after a jump, which currently allows players to aim down sights while sliding. Many players have expressed disapproval towards this feature, suggesting that sliding should serve as a defensive tactic for taking cover rather than a quick means of advancing on opponents while aiming. Although not all players have encountered this tactic yet, some are concerned it might become common once the game’s mechanics are fully understood.

In a Reddit discussion, certain gamers are mockingly linking the slide-and-aim tactic to the movement mechanics found in Call of Duty games. The Call of Duty series has been progressively refining mobility aspects like sliding, sprinting, and diving, which has led to a split within its vast community. Many players participating in the Battlefield 6 beta have expressed their desire for an experience that’s less reliant on such movement-intensive mechanics.

In addition to the debated aspect of aiming down sights in Battlefield 6, another feature causing controversy was recently disclosed: AI bots will be introduced to multiplayer lobbies when there aren’t enough human players to fully populate servers. Although this might not be a concern for many players during the open beta, it could potentially lead to complaints in the future.
