Back in the early part of this year, it came out that Battlefield Portal was making a comeback within the main series, and just recently during the unveiling of BF6’s multiplayer, we got official confirmation. The upcoming Portal mode is all about giving players the power to create their own experiences by providing them with the necessary tools. Now, the developers have shared some insights into the ideology behind the creation of this exciting new feature.

Battlefield 6’s Portal Mode is For Players That Want to Do More than Completing a Game

During a conversation with VideoGamer, UX director Alan Pimm shared some fresh details about the Portal feature in BF6. Pimm mentioned that the developers aim to enhance the Portal, which was present in Battlefield 2042, by making several modifications. The mode offers various intelligent tools, including authoring your own AI, personalizing the game according to your tastes, and more. They discovered that players desire a variety of terrain options, allowing them to select specific areas rather than just modes, and also adjust and have fun with these environments.

In his continued explanation, Pimm notes that the fresh Battlefield 6 Portal inventions can be officially recognized as distinct game modes, such as a “restricted weapon mode”. Yet, if players attempt to create an experience for self-gain, labeled as XP farming, they will receive a message saying, “I’m sorry, but you won’t earn XP from this one”, accompanied by other warnings within the Editor.
