EA has announced that fans who pre-ordered the new *Battlefield* game can begin downloading it on October 3rd. After a four-year wait for a new installment, *Battlefield* will officially launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 10th.
When *Battlefield 2042* came out in 2021, players generally didn’t like it. While critics had a mixed reaction, it quickly became known as one of the worst games in the *Battlefield* series. Because of this, fans have been eagerly waiting to see if EA and DICE could improve the franchise with the next installment, *Battlefield 6*. It looks like they might have succeeded! The game’s beta test last month was a huge hit with players, becoming the largest playtest in *Battlefield* history and even attracting more concurrent players on Steam than *Call of Duty*.
Battlefield 6 Pre-Load Begins October 3
With the release of *Battlefield 6* just around the corner, fans are wondering when they can download the game ahead of time. It’s now confirmed that pre-loading will begin on Friday, October 3rd, at 8 AM Pacific Time / 11 AM Eastern Time / 4 PM British Summer Time. This applies to anyone who has pre-ordered either the Standard or Phantom Edition on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. Pre-loading lets players start playing immediately when the game officially launches on October 10th.

It appears the long-awaited Battle Royale mode won’t be ready when *Battlefield 6* launches next week. Recent reports indicate it won’t be available at launch, but a trusted source says it’s planned for release on October 28th – just under three weeks away. While official information is still scarce, rumors suggest this mode will be free to play, much like *Fortnite* and *Call of Duty: Warzone*.

Now that we know when the game will be available to download, players are wondering how much space it will take up. Surprisingly, Battlefield 6 requires only 55 to 80 GB of storage – less than many other major games. EA is letting players customize their installation, similar to Call of Duty, by choosing which parts of the game to download. If you’re only interested in multiplayer, for example, you can skip downloading the single-player campaign to save space.
