The first season for Battlefield 6 starts on October 28th, and we’ve had a chance to preview what’s coming. The season will be released in three parts, each bringing new maps, weapons, game modes, and items to customize your experience. Here’s a breakdown of everything you can expect in Battlefield 6 Season One.
Battlefield 6 Season One: A Three-Phase Rollout and Brand New Battle Pass
Okay, so the first thing you’ll probably see when Season One drops in Battlefield 6 is the new Battle Pass. It’s pretty cool because it lets you choose how you want to level up – there are four different paths you can work on whenever you feel like it. Each path has a bunch of rewards, both free and premium stuff, like blueprints for weapons, skins for your specialist, and even little things like charms and patches. You can even customize your parachute with cool camos, which is a nice touch!
After finishing all four Battlepass tracks, a fifth path will become available, offering even more rewards.
This system allows players to focus on the content they’re most interested in, skipping anything they don’t want. This flexibility works well with the way Season One is structured, delivering content over several months. It starts with Rogue Ops on October 28th, then California Resistance on November 18th, and concludes with Winter Offensive on December 9th.
Season One’s New Weapons Hit Hard
The first season will include a variety of new weapons and attachments to experiment with, though the recent playtest only featured weapons from the initial phase. This first phase, called Rogue Ops, introduces three notable guns: the SOR-300C carbine, the Mini Fix sniper rifle, and the G22 pistol. After testing them out, it’s likely these will quickly become popular choices in Battlefield 6‘s best loadouts.
The SOR-300C is a carbine that favors careful aiming and good attachments – it’s best for players who want to master a weapon’s recoil. In contrast, the Mini Fix Sniper is a top-tier weapon with impressive speed, likely to be a dominant choice for many players. Finally, the G22 pistol is a fast and dependable sidearm, offering a great mix of speed and consistency.
More weapons are coming soon! Players can look forward to a shotgun and revolver with the California Resistance update, and an Ice Climbing Axe will be added with the Winter Offensive content.
Blackwell Fields Is Big, Beautiful, and Brutal
Season One of Battlefield 6 introduces a new map called Blackwell Fields. It’s a visually stunning desert landscape with oil fires and sun-baked hills, and it’s easily one of the best-looking maps DICE has created in recent years. However, the open environment can be challenging. Blackwell Fields is designed for all kinds of combat – from close-quarters fighting with infantry to large battles with vehicles – but snipers and tank players will likely have an advantage in the wide-open spaces.
Along with the new Rogue Ops content, players can now also drive the APC Traverser Mark 2, a four-person armored vehicle.
Eastwood Could Be Battlefield 6’s Best Map
California Resistance introduces Eastwood, a new map set in a California suburb centered around a ruined golf course. The map features a striking contrast between pristine lawns, quiet residential streets, and the wreckage of luxurious homes, offering diverse gameplay opportunities for all character classes. Despite only a brief playtest, Eastwood immediately stood out as a potential favorite among the game’s maps.
Eastwood also has drivable golf carts, which immediately became the stars of the playtest.
Strikepoint and Sabotage Are Game Modes With Mixed Results

Season One adds two new ways to play Battlefield 6: Strikepoint and Sabotage. Strikepoint, available first, is a competitive 4v4 mode focused on tactical play. Teams battle to eliminate the opposition and control a single capture point, and because there are no respawns, each life is crucial.
The new limited-time mode, Sabotage, needs some work. It’s an 8v8 match where teams switch between attacking and defending key locations, racing against the clock. While it has potential to be a strong competitive mode, currently it’s flawed. Poor protection for players starting each round lets one team easily corner their opponents, and the long breaks between rounds make the game feel slow. Unless DICE makes improvements before its full release, Sabotage risks being the least popular part of Battlefield 6’s first season.
Winter Offensive and What’s Next For Season One

The season will end on December 9th with ‘Winter Offensive,’ a smaller update that turns the Empire State map into a snowy battlefield. This update wasn’t included in the recent playtest, but it will feature the limited-time ‘Ice Lock’ event. This event introduces the Ice Climbing Axe and a new ‘Freeze’ mechanic that will temporarily change how certain matches play. While it’s the smallest update of the season, it appears to be a fun, winter-themed way to wrap things up for the year.
Season One Is A Confident Start for Battlefield 6’s Future

The recent Battlefield 6 Season One playtest suggests a strong start for the game’s ongoing updates. The new Battle Pass is a clear step up from the last one, and the added weapons are among the best in the game. The maps also look great and offer enjoyable gameplay. If the final version matches the playtest, it shows Battlefield 6 is focused on developing its strengths. If this is a sign of things to come, the Battlefield franchise could be entering a very successful era.
