Battlefield Head Vince Zampella Killed In Crash

There’s some unfortunate news to share right before Christmas. Vince Zampella, who created Infinity Ward and now leads the Battlefield series, tragically died in an accident on Sunday afternoon.

First reported by NBC Los Angeles, the crash took place on the Angeles Crest Highway in California.

TMZ reports that around 12:45pm on Sunday, Zampella was in a car crash. The California Highway Patrol says there was one person killed in the single-vehicle accident, and two people were in the car at the time.

Zampella was reportedly driving the car when it veered off the road, striking a concrete barrier.

Marcus Zampella has led the Battlefield series since 2021, but he’s most famous for co-founding the well-known game studios Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment. He played a key role in creating the Call of Duty franchise during his time at Infinity Ward. After leaving in 2010, he started Respawn Entertainment, the team behind games like Titanfall. Electronic Arts (EA) later acquired Respawn, and the studio went on to create popular titles such as the Star Wars Jedi series and Apex Legends.

Currently, Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment, and Zampella’s family haven’t released any official comments. We will update this article if they do.

Zampella was 55 years old and leaves behind three children.

We are continuing to follow this story and will share updates as we learn more. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Vince Zampella.
