Battlefield’s new battle royale mode, REDSEC, has generated a lot of excitement online. Building on the classic Battlefield multiplayer experience and including the Gauntlet mode, it’s set to be the largest and most action-packed battle royale the game has ever offered.
Our Battlefield REDSEC Review had both positive and negative points, but players have shared even more concerns.
Steam Players Unhappy With Battlefield REDSEC

Battlefield REDSEC has received 1,637 reviews on Steam, and most players haven’t had a positive experience. While the reception is largely negative, it hasn’t reached the extremely critical ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’ level, which is a relief for EA considering this is a new game launch.
Okay, so you don’t need Battlefield 6 to jump into REDSEC, which is awesome! But if you really want the complete package and all the extras, you can grab it on Amazon. I’m thinking I might, just to get the most out of it.
However, a look at reviews for REDSEC shows players are frustrated that challenges from the standard Battlefield 6 and its battle royale mode are overlapping – a problem similar to what’s been seen with Call of Duty and Warzone.
Honestly, as a player, I really prefer just enjoying the core game without being pushed towards battle royale challenges. I’d love it if those challenges stayed separate from regular multiplayer. Timed modes for battle royale are cool, but please don’t mix them with the standard game modes I enjoy!
Not having a Solo Mode playlist option.
I’m disappointed that this game doesn’t offer solo queue or a way to turn off autofill, meaning you can’t play alone against pre-made duos. I’m writing this review to warn others, as I wouldn’t have downloaded the game if I’d known this. Hopefully, this saves someone else some time. I’ll update this review if the developers make any changes.
Negativity toward the in-game UI which is also another common BF6 complaint.
“Terrible UI that mimics COD’s greedy skin bundle store 1:1 they aren’t even trying.”
Players are excited about the large size of the Fort Lyndor map, hoping it will be similar to the main Battlefield 6 map.
This map looks great – it’s large and has plenty of interesting points and flanking routes. It would be amazing to have a map like this in the actual game.
