It appears that the game directors responsible for Bayonetta 3, Astral Chain, Metal Gear Rising, and various other titles from PlatinumGames have recently left the company.
In a YouTube video shared by Hideki Kamiya, the ex-vice president of PlatinumGames, it was disclosed that the studio will experience the departure of five key team members who have been instrumental in creating some of their top-tier games. Among those leaving are the game directors for several hit titles such as Yusuke Miyata from Bayonetta 3, Adebe Tinari from Bayonetta Origins (now with HouseMarque), Takahisa Taura from Astral Chain, Kenji Saito from Metal Gear Rising, and Masaki Yamanaka, the character designer for Resident Evil.
In the concluding part of Hideki Kamiya’s video, it was disclosed that some members of PlatinumGames were leaving the studio. This revelation came during a scene where staff were seen celebrating a party. Kamiya encouraged viewers to show support for these departing team members, reminding everyone that it is people who make games, and that their creativity will continue to thrive wherever they may go.
Instead, Hideki Kamiya, once a vice president at PlatinumGames, has established his own studio called Clovers, with support from Capcom. Kamiya’s inaugural project at this new studio is set to be Okami 2, but details about the upcoming ventures of other game directors remain undisclosed.
