61-year-old Japanese voice artist Atsuko Tanaka has sadly passed away. Throughout her career that started in the early ’90s, she brought life to countless renowned characters in anime and video games.

Initially, she earned credit for her role in anime through ‘Mobile Suit Victory Gundam’, where she brought Juca Mellasch to life. In the same year, she marked her debut in video games by voicing Lisa in the Japanese version of the Sega CD game known as ‘Night Trap’. Since then, she has been a consistent presence in the industry, lending her voice to approximately 160 different video games.

On August 20, 2024, the heartbreaking news was shared on Twitter by Hikaru Tanaka, her son and another voice actor, about the passing of his mother, Tanaka. He disclosed that she had been fighting an unspecified illness for a year prior.
