Starsand Island is a charming life simulation game with an anime style, and starting a new game can feel a little daunting. There’s a large world to discover, lots of jobs to learn, and many different game systems to keep track of. This guide will give you the best tips and tricks to help you enjoy a smooth and relaxing beginning in Starsand Island.
Always Use Charged Strikes When Gathering
A key habit to develop early in the game is using powerful, charged strikes when gathering resources like wood and stone. Instead of quickly tapping the button, hold it down to deliver a much stronger hit that breaks materials faster.
As a player, I’ve found that using charged strikes is a total game-changer! They only cost a tiny bit more stamina than a normal attack, but they do so much more damage. Seriously, you end up using less stamina in the long run and taking down enemies way faster. Plus, if you time it right, you can just keep chaining charged strikes together until whatever you’re fighting is completely broken!
Manage Your Stamina
Having enough energy is key to a productive day. While eating can restore your energy, it takes time and money to get food, especially when you’re just starting out. A simpler solution is to simply sit down – benches and chairs will gradually restore your energy levels.
You’ll find a broken bench on your land that doesn’t cost much to fix. Repairing it lets you regain energy without using up food or cutting your day short.
Make Sure to Get in Bed by 2:00 AM
In Starsand Island, time passes a bit slower than in most farming games, but it’s important to get enough sleep. If you’re not in bed by 2 AM, you’ll pass out and wake up the next day with only half your energy.
To make matters worse, fainting repeatedly – three days in a row – will knock you out for a full day to recover. This can really set you back when you’re first starting out.
Watch the clock by the mini-map and aim to be home by midnight, particularly when you’re first starting out and don’t have much stamina.
Manage Inventory Space and Storage Chests
At the beginning of Starsand Island, you have very little space to carry items. You can increase your carrying capacity by upgrading your backpack from the menu, but upgrades are expensive and only add five slots at a time.
Honestly, I’ve been loving how much I’m using storage chests in the game! You can buy the blueprints for them pretty easily, and put them wherever you need. The best part? You don’t have to run back and forth gathering materials! The game automatically pulls what you need for crafting and quests right from your storage, which is a huge time-saver and makes playing so much smoother.
You can now put matching items directly into chests without needing to open them first. Plus, you can easily access and manage all of your chests from a single, convenient menu.
Visit the Shops Regularly
Starsand Island has lots of shops! The general store is open all the time, and most other shops stay open from morning until night. They all regularly get new items – like blueprints for machines and more storage – so it’s a good idea to check back often.
Even if a shop appears to be closed, you might still be able to buy or sell things by talking to the shopkeeper if you see them around. When selling, it’s generally better to sell crafted or processed items instead of raw materials, as you’ll earn more money.
Mini Sentry Bots are available for purchase at the Exploration Club and cost 190 Gold each. To use one, simply put it in your hotbar, select it, and then activate it – press RT on Xbox or the left mouse button on PC. Once deployed, the bot will automatically attack nearby enemies for 30 seconds. Feel free to use several bots at the same time to defeat tougher opponents.
Take Advantage of Free Resources Everywhere
Starsand Island is very rich in resources. You’ll find plenty of wood and rocks everywhere, and there are many ways to get free items. Look for charity boxes around the island – they give you daily resources like seeds, fishing gear, animal products, and ammo. Also, be sure to search for treasure chests, which contain useful rewards such as crafting plans, materials, seeds, and Coins.
Chests are often hidden in tricky spots – behind buildings, along the sides of houses, or squeezed into corners. Get into the habit of looking around carefully while you explore, because you might stumble upon one at any time.
Be sure to search the Moonlit Forest carefully. You can find valuable items in places like dirt mounds, gravestones, and hidden caves. To keep exploring even when your bags are full, place storage chests at the forest camps.
Get Some Animals
In Starsand Island, farm animals are more than just a source of resources. Showing them affection by hand-feeding them – instead of simply filling their feeders – improves the quality of what they produce and helps you level up your ranching skills faster. Plus, happy animals will even help out around the farm! Rabbits take care of weeds, chickens deal with flying insects, and ducks eat snails. By keeping your animals near your crops, you can save time and make managing a large farm much simpler.
Have Smart Farming Layouts
Everlasting Seeds are among the most useful items you can find on Starsand Island. They continuously regrow, thrive year-round, and provide a consistent source of income without needing to be replanted. For flexibility, it’s best to plant them in planters instead of directly in the ground—this allows you to rearrange your farm layout later. As your farm expands, you’ll find Build mode essential for moving things like water pumps, fences, and planters, ultimately saving you time and effort when navigating larger areas.
Use the Save System to Your Advantage
Starsand Island is very forgiving when it comes to saving your game. It automatically saves every 3 to 20 minutes, and you can adjust this to save as often as every three minutes. You can also save manually whenever you like, either from the pause menu or when you exit the game. This means you don’t have to worry about losing progress if you can’t play for a while – you can easily save and pick up where you left off later, even if life gets in the way.
