10. Always Talk to Jeff
When you start the game at your base, you’ll meet Jeff, a duck who will be your first guide. He’s more than just a face in the crowd – Jeff will give you important tasks, such as the Basic Construction quest. Completing this quest unlocks key upgrades like the Workbench and Warehouse, which are essential for progress.
Okay, so when you first start playing, definitely do all of Jeff’s quests. He basically walks you through the basics – how vending machines work, where to find stuff to craft with, and how to keep your inventory organized. Seriously, talk to him until he’s got nothing left to say! You unlock a ton of important game features just by chatting him up, so don’t skip any of his dialogue.

You can increase your storage space by finding special items in raids. Go to your Warehouse, then use your mouse wheel to find the upgrade option and apply the item. Upgrading your storage even once can significantly simplify crafting later on.
Also, consider getting a larger backpack. It will let you run for longer, carry more items, and avoid having to constantly decide what to get rid of.
In Escape from Duckov, your weight actually affects how you play. If you carry too much, you’ll move slower and become an easier target. Things like Storage Expansion boxes are particularly heavy, so it’s best to return to base quickly after picking them up.
6. Use Quests to Level Up
In Escape From Duckov, you primarily advance by finishing Quests. Characters you meet, such as Jeff, will give you quests that teach you how the game works, open up new areas, and reward you with useful items or plans to build things.
It’s important to follow these quests because finishing them unlocks new areas and valuable resources. Ignoring quests can leave you with outdated equipment while other players are improving their bases.
5. Know What To Sell
You don’t need to collect everything you find outdoors. You can sell items using vending machines at your base. If an item has a coin value, you can sell it straight from your inventory or storage containers.
A good habit to get into is consistently making new items, such as eco lamps, CD drives, wrenches, and IV medicine. Also, always sell any extra or broken weapons, useless equipment, or items labeled as “common.”
4. Avoid Roaming At Night At First
If you’re just starting out, it’s best to avoid exploring at night. The game gets much harder after dark – tougher enemies appear, you can’t see very well, and your flashlight doesn’t offer much help. Until you have good equipment and really know the map, focus on playing during the day.
Night runs can be worthwhile once you’re skilled and well-equipped, but until then, it’s best to focus on recovering and getting ready for your next raid during the day.
Use the bed in your bunker to rest, which allows you to advance time and start raids when it’s safer during the day.
3. Protect And Recover Your Loot
A tough lesson in Escape From Duckov is that when you die, you lose everything you’re carrying. All items in your inventory are gone permanently. However, if you quickly return to the place where you died, you have a chance to recover your lost possessions, despite the risk.
You can use your dog’s bag as a safe place to store your most important items. Your canine companion isn’t just along for the ride – anything you put in their bag will be saved, even if you’re defeated during a raid. This ensures you don’t lose your best finds, even if a mission isn’t successful.
Keep a close eye on how much loot you’ve collected and how much time you have left. If you already have a good amount of gear, it’s best to return to your base. Trying to grab just one more item can be risky and could make you lose everything you’ve found.
2. Use the Teleporter to Fast Travel
After playing for a couple of hours, you’ll get the Teleporter, which lets you quickly move between different areas of the game. Each major area has a beacon that you can activate by pressing the ‘F’ key. This allows you to fast travel, saving you time and making it safer to collect resources. Plus, it’s less risky than traveling back and forth the normal way.
