While money is crucial for purchasing items, completing these Bounties is also an excellent way to hone your combat skills. You might even encounter a Ronin or a sought-after mercenary with rewards beyond just money. It’s best to complete these Bounties as soon as they become available, as some offer particularly valuable rewards.

Atsu’s central storyline revolves around seeking revenge, and to reflect this, future main quests will be highlighted on the map with a Gold icon and represented by a Gold card. Ezo is a vast map, and it’s common for players to feel lost or unsure of where to begin. To make exploring easier, talk to Cartographers and Merchants and buy the maps they offer. These maps give you helpful details and show the exact locations of Shrines, allowing you to improve Atsu and the Wolf’s Skills. Remember, Skills aren’t earned through experience or missions; they’re only found at Altars. So, using maps to locate them quickly is an excellent way to upgrade both Atsu and the Wolf efficiently.

Set Up Camp for Stat Boosts and Travel Maps

While you’re with your horse, you can press Left on the D-Pad to create a Camp. The Camp is a fantastic way to let Atsu rest and recover – simply activating it restores her Spirit points (Resolve). This is a safe, combat-free method for regaining Spirit, so don’t hesitate to rest often between fights. Additionally, within the Camp, you can sleep to advance or change the time of day, and prepare food for helpful bonuses. For example, cooking a Mushroom will grant 24 hours of increased Spirit.

What’s more, you’ll sometimes have visitors! Occasionally, a stranger will come to your camp for a chat, and talking to them can provide valuable information. These strangers can even mark interesting locations – such as activities or enemy camps – directly on your map, making them worth exploring.

As a big fan, I’ve found something super useful! If you press Up on the D-Pad, you can activate your Spyglass. Basically, you want to get to a good vantage point – somewhere high up, or even just a nice little hill – and then activate it. Once it’s on, you can hover the Spyglass over distant locations. You’ll know you’re onto something when the central cursor turns gold and your controller starts to vibrate! That means Atsu is tagging that location, and it’ll then show up on your map. You can do this with all sorts of things – activities or even bandit camps – so whenever you see something far off, or a smoke cloud forming, definitely use the Spyglass! You might just find something awesome waiting to be explored.

Battles in Ghost of Yotei are dynamic, enjoyable, and complex. Players can’t simply repeatedly press a button to defeat enemies. The game features a wide variety of foes, including those wielding katanas, spears, shields, bows and arrows, and large, powerful brutes. Each enemy type has unique attacks that players must learn to anticipate and counter. When an enemy prepares to attack, their weapon will flash. If there’s no flash, the attack can be blocked or parried. See the attack patterns below to understand how to respond to different colors:

Blue – Must be parried, so tap L1 as the enemy is about to strike
Yellow – Must hold Triangle and then release Triangle, as failing to do so will see you disarmed
