Behaviour Interactive Buys Darkest Dungeon Developer Red Hook Studios

As a long-time fan of both Darkest Dungeon and Dead by Daylight, I must say this acquisition has me thrilled! Behaviour Interactive, with its expertise in horror gaming, seems like the perfect home for Red Hook Studios. I can only imagine what terrifying tales they’ll weave together.

The game development company responsible for creating Dead by Daylight, known as Behaviour Interactive, has revealed that they have acquired Red Hook Studios, the team behind Darkest Dungeon.

The acquisition was for an undisclosed amount.

Remi Racine, CEO and co-founder of Behaviour, expressed gratitude at the opportunity to welcome a developer of Red Hook’s stature. Earlier this year, he announced that Behaviour aims to become synonymous with horror in the gaming industry, and intends to build a collection of terrifying games around Dead by Daylight that match its exceptional quality.

“Our acquisition of Red Hook is another emphatic step towards this objective, with more to come.”

In the agreement, it’s stipulated that all 29 employees from Red Hook Studios will remain within the company. Currently, Red Hook is expected to operate autonomously under the umbrella of Behaviour Interactive.

According to Red Hook Studios co-founder Tyler Sigman, teaming up with Behaviour Interactive is thrilling on several accounts. They have proven their dedication to letting our team carry on developing Darkest Dungeon in the way we excel at, while also tapping into their vast expertise and resources. Together, we are more powerful than separate.

The news of the acquisition comes just a week after Behaviour Interactive cancelled Dead by Daylight spinoff Project T and shut down Midwinter Entertainment.
