Behaviour Shuts Down Midwinter Entertainment After Project T Cancellation

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, it’s always disheartening to see studios shut down and talented individuals lose their jobs. The closure of Midwinter Entertainment, a studio that was developing Project T, is yet another example of this unfortunate trend.

Following the cancellation of Project T due to its lackluster response, it appears that the studio responsible for the game’s development, Midwinter Entertainment, has been closed down by Behaviour Interactive, according to various online posts.

News started to appear on LinkedIn shortly after it was announced that Project T was no more.

Gregory Marques announced that his studio unexpectedly shut down today. Working at Midwinter was an excellent experience, filled with talented individuals. I’m going to really miss it.

Unfortunately, after approximately 7 years, my tenure at Midwinter Entertainment has unexpectedly concluded because the studio had to shut down, as stated by Daniel Alexander who leads the animation and art department.

Previously employed individual, Eli Hanson, lauded his work experience at Midwinter, yet expressed reservations about Behaviour Interactive’s choice to terminate Project T.

It’s quite surprising, they mentioned, that our latest playtest resulted in a 92/100 score for fun and playability – yet it seems the game is being marketed as if players didn’t enjoy it.” (This is a paraphrase of the original sentence, aiming to maintain the same meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.)

At least 35 individuals were impacted by the shutdown. By the time the report was published, over 13,000 jobs had been eliminated across approximately 135 gaming companies in the year 2024.

In Behaviour Interactive’s announcement concerning the termination of Project T, they didn’t provide any details about Midwinter’s future status. TopMob is currently seeking clarification from Behaviour Interactive on this matter.

Midwinter was founded in 2016, and was acquired by Behaviour Interactive in 2022.
