Summary

  • Bella Ramsey feels the pressure of starring in The Last of Us season 2 but is excited for the challenge.
  • Ramsey shares many scenes with Pedro Pascal, indicating a compelling storyline ahead.
  • New actors have been added to the cast, with Kaitlyn Dever receiving praise despite initial criticism.

As the second season premiere of “The Last of Us” approaches quickly, the actors have been giving hints about what viewers will see in the upcoming episodes. Notably, Bella Ramsey, portraying Ellie, has also shared her insights on the matter.

As reported by Yahoo! News, during a recent press gathering, Ramsey discussed the stress of being in the limelight for a television series with a greatly expected second season. Specifically, she mentioned the pressure associated with it.

There’s a slight sense of apprehension. When Season 1 debuted, it was a massive event. With Season 2 on the horizon, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and unease as everyone watches and expects from me. It’s a bit nerve-wracking, yet thrilling at the same time.

Ever since it was announced in January 2023 that The Last of Us season 2 is on its way, fans have been speculating whether the second installment can match the storytelling prowess of the first. In this series, Ramsey frequently interacts with Pedro Pascal’s character Joel, a man burdened by a tragic past who forms a bond with Ellie as they navigate a world overrun by people infected by the Cordyceps fungus. Fans familiar with the game are intrigued and somewhat puzzled by the time jump in season 2, as it is set to start five years after the season 1 finale. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazan have clarified that while some viewers suggested a new actress for Ellie in season 2, they intend to keep Ramsey in the role. Mazin further explained that season 2 will offer a unique experience, stating it won’t be an exact replica of the game.

In various TV series and films, Ramsey has made an appearance, notably starring as Lady Lyanna Mormont in the sixth season of “Game of Thrones.” Her role as Ellie in “The Last of Us” brought her considerable attention, marking it as her most prominent part thus far. In discussions, Ramsey spoke about the strained relationship between Joel and Ellie, as depicted in the first season of “The Last of Us,” and noted that their bond has evolved since she is now a young adult. She expressed:

“In ‘The Last of Us,’ there were issues between Joel and Ellie, but things have shifted since then because I’ve grown up.

Ellie went through her formative years between the ages of 14 and 19, which undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping who she is now. However, there are clearly more complex factors underlying their disagreement or estrangement.

The upcoming season is expected to be just as emotionally stirring, tear-jerking, and filled with excitement as the initial one. A fresh batch of actors have joined the team, such as Ben Ahlers, Noah Lamanna, Robert John Burke, Hettienne Park, Alanna Ubach, and Joe Pantoliano. Despite some criticism regarding Kaitlyn Dever’s casting as Abby, the massive viewership for the trailer of ‘The Last of Us’ season 2 indicates a strong anticipation for the new season. It’s worth mentioning that, according to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, Dever was once in the running for the role of Ellie when a film adaptation of the video game was being discussed. With that project not materializing, it’s thrilling to see Dever reappear in the world of ‘The Last of Us’.

The Last of Us season 2 will arrive on HBO and Max on April 13th, 2025.
