Summary
- Build a Church early for happiness and religion. Costs 25 coins.
- Prioritize Warehouse and Granary for trading and storage.
- Start with Fisher’s Hut for fast food, trade, and efficiency.
Foundation can be quite daunting at first, with numerous buildings, an abundance of options, and only a handful of villagers initially available. To maintain the town’s prosperity, players must strive to keep everyone content, strengthen their defenses and trading networks, and much more.
Starting out can feel daunting, especially for those who opt to bypass orientation and jump straight into the action of Foundation. However, once players have a solid grasp of the fundamentals, here are some ideal structures to construct first.
8. Church
For the Soul of the People
As a player immersed in this virtual world, I’ve noticed that just like real-life villagers, each character has unique needs and desires. Among these essentials are not only food, shelter, and trade resources, but also a spiritual connection – a need for religion in their lives. In the early stages of the game, you can cater to this need by choosing the Clergy path in the Progression menu at a cost of 25 coins, providing them with access to church services.
7. Storage
Warehouses and Granaries
In this captivating indie game, storage structures play a crucial role, particularly during the early stages. Players should aim to construct at least one of these buildings as soon as possible to initiate trading. Absence of such a storage facility restricts players from selling items with neighboring towns, limiting their inventory capacity for each type of item, and also prevents them from purchasing goods from other towns.
Fortunately, these can be accessed along the Common Path without requiring extensive action beyond constructing Sawmills and Lumber Yards. Storing materials such as stones, wood, tools, and planks is done in Warehouses, whereas only food items like wheat, bread, berries, and their equivalents are kept in Granaries.
6. Fisher’s Hut
Fishing in the Common Path
In this tranquil city-building game, the tutorial initially encourages players to begin berry gathering, but a wiser choice for starting your town would be fishing. Fishing, if your territory has water bodies with fishing spots, provides food more quickly and requires only one villager instead of three to reach its full potential.
In the beginning or end phases of the game, fish provide food quickly with minimal resources required – be it people, land, or time. Moreover, they’re an excellent early trade commodity that Trotbury is willing to buy.
5. Tax Office
A Manor House Sub Building
Although taxes might not be your favorite topic, they play a crucial role in the game known as Foundation. They will serve as the primary source of consistent income throughout your gaming experience. As soon as you navigate to the Progression menu for the first time, consider purchasing and constructing the Manor. Attach a defensive tower to it, turning it into a tax office. This move will help you accumulate funds swiftly. With careful management of priorities and resources, you can build a tax building in the initial month, thereby boosting your finances rapidly.
4. Tons of Wells
A Base Building in Food
In this beginner-friendly city-building simulation game, wells serve as guides to help villagers determine safe areas for constructing houses. If a player marks land with the Residential brush tool but finds that their villagers aren’t building homes there, it’s likely because those locations are too distant from job sites and water sources like wells.
Setting up a food market tent and a water source (well) in an undeveloped region can attract residents, as it might make them consider settling in areas they previously shied away from.
3. Stonemason Hut
In the Common Path
Smooth pebbles make an excellent product suitable for trading along early market paths. Both Northbury and Trotbury are willing to purchase each stone at the rate of three coins per piece, and their production is surprisingly straightforward.
To progress in the game, players simply need to acquire the Stonemason Hut, found along the Main Path once you’ve amassed 10 Prosperity and 50 coins. Afterward, using wood and fabric (which can be acquired or purchased if you don’t have sheep yet), construct this structure. You can obtain some fabric from trade routes to ensure a smooth building process in this charming indie game.
2. Forester
A Base Building
In this charming game, players need to be mindful of the environment, as depleting all the trees for wood and planks may happen sooner than one might expect if no forest regeneration is ensured by having a forester or regularly planting new trees.
As a passionate gamer, I can personally attest that one Forester character in this game has the power to reseed numerous acres of virtual terrain, ensuring a constant supply of wood for me throughout my gaming journey.
1. Wheat Farm
Farming in the Common Path
Among the quicker methods to generate premium food supplies for your villagers, focusing on baking bread initially would be advantageous. This is due to its importance in improving trade routes and its role in various quests that may arise during gameplay.
In the Progression section, they have the ability to initiate Farming, requiring just a small amount of funds and 10 Prosperity points to get started on their personal wheat farming venture.
