In Battlefield 6, carbines are a versatile weapon class, falling between assault rifles and submachine guns. They offer a great balance of stopping power at medium range and maintain good accuracy during sustained firing. Many of the game’s top-performing weapons are carbines, and some might even be better than most traditional rifles.
While every carbine in *Battlefield 6* can be effective, it takes time to find the one that suits your playstyle. This guide compares all the carbines in the game to help you determine which is the best.
Best Carbines in Battlefield 6
- M4A1
- QBZ-192
- GRT-BC
- SG553R
- M417 A2
- AK-205
- M277
We’ve ranked the carbines in Battlefield 6 based on how easy they are to use and how well they perform compared to each other. The top-ranked carbine is the most user-friendly and effective, while the one at the bottom is a more specialized weapon that takes skill to master. Ultimately, the best carbine is the one that fits your playstyle. If you’re having trouble with this weapon class, you’ll find details below on how each carbine is designed to be used.
M4A1
The King of Close Quarters
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The M4A1 quickly became popular in Battlefield 6 because it’s a dependable weapon. It’s accurate and has manageable recoil, making it effective at close to medium distances. At very close range (around 8 meters or less), skilled players can eliminate an opponent in just 0.2 seconds. This combination makes the M4A1 incredibly powerful in tight spaces, but it also performs well at longer ranges if you use short, controlled bursts of fire to maintain accuracy in Battlefield 6.
This weapon is excellent overall, with only a couple of minor drawbacks. Some players might not like its fast fire rate, and it’s only truly deadly at very close range. It also loses effectiveness at distances over 80 meters due to damage loss, bullet speed, and recoil. Despite these small issues, it’s the most dependable carbine in the game and performs well on every map.
Every carbine in the game experiences damage fall-off by the 10-meter mark, except for the M277.
QBZ-192
Best All-Around Carbine
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
This weapon performs just as well as the M4A1 and is equally reliable. While it doesn’t shoot quite as quickly, it deals the same amount of damage, and has much better control thanks to significantly less recoil. Think of it as a longer-range alternative to the M4. This is where the weapon really shines, allowing players to effectively engage enemies at distances you wouldn’t normally expect from a carbine.
We would have ranked the QBZ-192 higher if it were easier to get. Currently, you need to reach Rank 23 and complete the Danger Close Assignment in BF6 to unlock it – the assignment itself isn’t too difficult, but the rank requirement adds a significant grind. Also, the QBZ-192 has fewer customization options than most weapons. However, this isn’t a major drawback, as the gun performs very well even without attachments.
GRT-BC
The Duelist’s Choice
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The GRT-BC is a compact carbine built for close-quarters combat. You can unlock it at Rank 41. In terms of performance, it’s very similar to the M4A1, with some minor differences in its stats. The GRT-BC is more accurate, easier to control, and more mobile, but it has slower hipfire, a lower rate of fire, and reloads a bit slower. Also, when firing, the GRT-BC’s barrel tends to drift upwards and to the left, while the M4 drifts upwards and to the right.
The GRT-BC is a bit easier to control than the M4, even though it shoots slightly slower. While the slower rate of fire does affect how quickly it eliminates targets, the difference isn’t huge. Basically, if you enjoy using the M4A1, you’ll probably like the GRT, but you might find its recoil and slow reload speed a bit awkward.
SG553R
Versatile, Hard-Hitting Rifle
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The SG553R is a versatile carbine that packs a punch, behaving more like a full-sized assault rifle with its damage and range. It deals about 33.4 damage per shot up close, letting you eliminate an enemy with three body shots if you connect them all. However, at longer ranges—around 80 meters—it takes the same six shots to kill as the QBZ.
Although the gun is listed as dealing 33 damage, you’ll likely do between 25 and 17 damage at ranges of 10 to 80 meters. This performance is similar to most other carbines in terms of how many bullets it takes to eliminate a target. However, the SG553R’s strong recoil and firing rate of 720 rounds per minute make it a little less effective than the QBZ and M4A1.
Similar to how you unlock the QBZ, this weapon is available through the Danger Close Assignment. To earn it, you’ll need to get kills using either the QBZ or M277, and land 300 headshots. Importantly, only headshots themselves count towards the 300 goal – you don’t need to get kills *with* headshots.
M417 A2
Mid-Range Sledgehammer
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The M417 A2 and the SG553R perform similarly. Both guns do 33 damage when fired up close. However, the M417 A2 is much easier to keep on target, resulting in more accurate bursts of fire. It also maintains more of its damage at longer distances, dealing 20 damage per shot, while the other three carbines on this list only deal 17.
The M417 A2 is best suited for medium-distance fights, and its downsides highlight this. It starts with a small 20-round magazine, and you need to play with it quite a bit—reaching Mastery Rank 29—to unlock a larger 25-round magazine. It also fires slower than any other carbine, at only 654 rounds per minute. Because of this, missing shots at close range can be a serious problem, and other weapons can easily overpower it.
AK-205
The Headhunter
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The AK-205 is a good choice if you prefer shooting from a distance. It has very little recoil, which makes it easy to control when using scopes. However, it doesn’t deal much damage and has a relatively slow firing rate, making it less effective in close combat. You’ll likely be at a disadvantage against most other guns in *BF6*, but there’s a reason it can still be useful.
The AK-205 can be equipped with Synthetic Tips, an attachment that significantly increases its headshot damage – from 1.34 to 1.75. This boosts the base headshot damage from 27 to 35. While the damage slightly decreases to 33 at 100 meters, Synthetic Tips make the AK-205 the most powerful weapon in its class, but only if you’re accurate with headshots.
M277
Consistency is Key
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
|
|
The M277 is a solid carbine in *Battlefield 6*, known for its reliable damage output. It consistently deals 25 damage per shot up to 80 meters. While it’s difficult to use at longer distances due to its strong recoil and reduced accuracy, you can improve its performance by firing in short bursts or, ideally, switching to single-shot mode.
The M277 is a solid weapon that can go toe-to-toe with other carbines and even designated marksman rifles, but its powerful recoil is a significant drawback, especially when compared to guns like the QBZ-192. While attachments can help, it still has a noticeable kick. Despite this, the M277’s reliable accuracy at both long and short distances makes it a worthwhile gun to learn and use.
