In the sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the storyline surpasses its predecessor through a blend of stunning visuals, humorous dialogues, and captivating cinematic scenes that significantly enhance Henry’s adventure. The writing is noteworthy for its improvement, with certain phrases leaving an indelible impact on players.
In the worlds of Trosky and Kuttenberg, even seemingly minor characters and overlooked scenes contribute significantly to each quest and storyline. Exploring every corner feels like a captivating journey. While the game is packed with countless unforgettable lines, some stand out more vividly than others.

Audentes Fortuna Iuvat!
In simpler terms, the unofficial slogan of our eclectic duo, Henry and Sir Hans – often referred to as “fortune favors the brave” – echoes frequently throughout the game. It’s used either to spur courage or remind them of their responsibilities. This ancient saying not only guides their actions but also forms the ethical core of the main storyline, encouraging players to stay resolute even when faced with an seemingly insurmountable enemy force.
Additionally, the character of Hans is skillfully developed, as a preliminary cutscene portrays a snapshot of the future in which Hans, initially scoffing at the phrase, later declares it with courage. On days like these, we all might find ourselves needing to exclaim “Fortune favors the bold” to push through.

Arne Does Not Yield!

Originally hailing from a secondary role within a side-story centered around a pair of German martial artists, I found myself standing alongside Menhard and Henry in a grand tournament. This contest was to validate Wenceslas’ decree on who would lead Kuttenberg’s sword fighting guild. Throughout this event, I faced perilous odds and was barely kept alive. However, against all odds, I pressed forward with undying determination.
Following a severe head injury, Arne refuses to back down, risking everything to demonstrate his talent and resolve. A striking scene where he looks directly into the camera and shouts “I will not give up!” showcases an unexpected strength from our modest swordsman that we haven’t witnessed before.

That Was Just A Warning Shot!

Amongst the hilarious highlights of the entire game, I found myself teaming up with Kubyenka and Zizka to launch an attack on Hungarian forces who had seized the Dry Devil. With some high-tech weaponry – handgonnes – at our disposal, we unleashed a barrage against their well-armed company.
Once the dust settles, it becomes clear that almost every bullet missed its mark, except for an unlucky horse and Dry Devil himself who got hit in the rear end. Amusingly, Henry attempts to spin the situation positively, stating their failed attack was merely a warning. However, this explanation is met with indifference.

… But Deliver Us From Evil…

As a gamer named Henry, I find myself perched high above the city of Nebakov, surrounded by my band of hardy mercenaries, holed up inside a towering fortress with an imposing army encamped outside our gates. We’ve been holding out, hoping against hope that the enemy forces would eventually tire and retreat. However, it seems fate has other plans.
In the distance, a chilling rumor has begun to circulate among us – whispers of a divine intervention known as the Finger of God, hinted at in an earlier quest. As we watch in dread, the massive cannon that is said to be connected to this ominous prophecy is aimed and prepared for launch. The tension is palpable, and I can’t help but wonder if our luck has finally run out.
As fear grips us all, Father Godwin bravely recites the Lord’s Prayer in solemn Latin tones. In sync with each word he speaks, the Finger of God sweeps across the sky, reducing the tower to rubble. This intensely crafted and directed scene showcases the overwhelming power Sigismund’s forces possess, the desperate predicament we find ourselves in, and Father Godwin as a steadfast man of faith amidst his trials.
With the “Theology Scholarship Benefit”, you have the ability to repeat the Lord’s Prayer at shrines to gain a healing boost.

The Stronger Dog…

Istvan Toth’s harsh, concluding remarks while Henry plunges a blade into him, encapsulate Istvan as a ruthless opportunist exploiting this war for personal advantage. Despite overcoming the thief who swindled your father’s sword and rekindling Martin’s heritage, his words taint the triumph with a bitter taste.
Additionally, these sentiments are further emphasized by Henry’s dreams featuring Martin, who queries whether Henry’s path of vengeance is truly justified, and if it indeed bestows honor upon him. The moment when Henry slays Istvan serves as a powerful depiction of this sense of despair and hatred, revealing the ominous side of unrestrained brutality.

Get Him!

As you move on from Hans Capon following your overnight stay in the stockade, locating Mutt won’t be a walk in the park. Following several clues and traversing Trosky far and wide, you finally come across Mutt living among a group of wild wolves.
Showing unwavering devotion towards Henry, the lovable mutt Mutt swiftly changes allegiance when his new comrades exhibit hostility towards Henry. The scene then transitions abruptly from tension to battle, with Henry barking out a command to Mutt, and they stand united once more.
Rest assured, no harm can come to Mutt, as he’ll always find his way back to Henry following a brief period after suffering excessive damage, regardless of the situation.

Fight To The Bitter End, With All The Strength You Can Muster!

Following a fall that would likely have been fatal for an average 15th-century peasant, Henry finds himself in a tranquil interlude, where he engages in conversation with his adoptive father, Martin. In this serene grove, Henry ponders his own demise while Martin offers him words of solace.
Prior to being roused by Hans gently nudging him, Martin passes on some final words of encouragement to Henry, fueling his determination to persevere through any challenges. The scene, coupled with Sir Hans’ expression, echoes their shared journey and subtly hints at a close-knit relationship between the two, underscoring their unbreakable bond.
2.
I Am Sir Hans Capon Of Pirkstein!

In one crucial moment during the opening act of the game, Sir Hans finds himself facing the consequences of his poaching activities, as Chamberlain Ulrich prepares to execute him publicly before the eyes of Trosky Castle. Despite his passionate assertions of noble lineage and significant message, these claims fall on deaf ears, infuriating the chamberlain, who remains unmoved, even after Henry presents a witness.
After Ulrich dismisses his assertions one last time, it appears that Hans may face execution permanently, leaving him feeling powerless for an extended period. This instance serves as a precursor to the rest of the game’s events, as dialogue proves ineffective against Sigismund, suggesting the futility of words as a means of resistance.

And Are You Sure You Didn’t Kill Someone’s Father? Or Mother?

In my last encounter with Markvart von Aulitz, he openly discussed his role in the war and his thoughts on his obligations and actions serving Sigismund. To my surprise, Markvart’s humble demeanor amidst impending death made him seem more human, and I found myself, Henry, unexpectedly empathizing with him a bit.
Shockingly, Markvart asserts and demonstrates that he recalls each life he has ended. Countering Henry’s accusations, Markvart challenges him: “Do you remember every life you have taken?” Henry’s face reveals a chilling understanding, compelling him to grapple with his own thirst for vengeance.
