  • Stories involving Kitty Pryde, Secret Wars, and Wolverine’s vulnerable past offer exciting possibilities for the character’s cinematic future.

As a long-time fan of the X-Men and Wolverine, I must say that these three comic book storylines present some truly intriguing opportunities for the big screen or small screen adaptation. Each one offers a unique perspective on the life and times of everyone’s favorite mutant, Logan aka Wolverine.

In this rendition, the characters Deadpool and Wolverine will once again be played by Hugh Jackman, who is famously known as The Best There Is. Given that it’s Jackman reprising his role, it’s likely fans can expect more of him or a similar character. The movie Deadpool & Wolverine introduces the classic Mutant pair to the Marvel Cinematic Universe through their dimension 10005, which opens up opportunities for additional Wolverine adventures.

Even though Wolverine has starred in his own trilogy and numerous X-Men films, there are still countless stories left to explore featuring the adamantium-clawed Wolverine. The Marvel Cinematic Universe offers endless possibilities, and with a rich history of fantastic Wolverine comic books to draw from, it’s poised for greatness as it moves beyond the Multiverse Saga and into the era of the Mutant Saga.

In a different words:

Venturing into these territories alone allows for a deeper exploration of Wolverine’s character, and it also sets the stage for the impending arrival of the menacing Mutant antagonist, Apocalypse. Additionally, the prospect of witnessing Wolverine battling dinosaurs is undeniably enticing!

6 Wolverine vs. The Hulk

Legendary Rivals Fight As An Iconic Origin

  • Released: October 20, 1987
  • Created by: Peter David, Todd McFarlane

In the Marvel Universe, Wolverine made his debut when the original and top-tier Canadian superhero squared off against the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk issue 181. Over time, the character was further developed, leading to an eventual rematch that seemed inevitable. Consequently, Incredible Hulk issue 340 serves as a promising starting point for a potential Wolverine film.

It’d be fantastic to witness a clash between Wolverine and the Hulk, as their fight would embody an epic, timeless, and brutal battle – a fitting portrayal given Wolverine’s origins. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could greatly benefit from enhancing the Hulk’s character, making a confrontation with Wolverine essential for both characters to truly shine.

5 Enemy of the State

A Brainwashed Wolverine Battles Heroes And Villains Alike

Best Comics For A Wolverine Movie Post-Deadpool & Wolverine
  • Released: October 6, 2004
  • Created by: Mark Millar, John Romita Jr.

In the world of X-Men, Wolverine is known for being the deadliest among them. He doesn’t hesitate to use his razor-sharp claws against those who deserve it. His aggressive and instinctual nature can create intriguing scenarios, particularly if Wolverine is manipulated into performing actions that others might view as evil. Fans of Deadpool & Wolverine are fond of Wolverine’s killing spree, so why not explore more of this side of him in another reality?

Introducing Wolverine as an antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might be a fitting choice for his character. In this scenario, Wolverine would navigate the MCU, engaging both allies and adversaries, including renowned heroes. This journey could involve him trying to remove the brainwashing that led him to become an enemy, potentially introducing more adult-oriented, violent themes that the MCU has yet to explore extensively.

4 Secret Wars

The Multiverse Collapses, Requiring Heroes All Over To Lend A Hand

  • Released: January 24, 1984
  • Created by: Jim Shooter, Michael Zeck

Marvel’s Secret Wars holds a significant place in their history as it marks their initial crossover event involving both heroes and villains. This epic narrative has long been considered an ideal foundation for an Avengers film. With contemporary adaptations of Secret Wars being proposed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could leverage this opportunity for a fresh start, allowing characters like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, and Spider-Man to coexist in the same continuity without creating much confusion.

2027 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Marvel fans like me, with the confirmed arrival of Secret Wars. Given the multiverse’s role in this storyline, it feels almost destined to bring back Hugh Jackman’s iconic Wolverine. Imagine the thrill of seeing him team up or even clash with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man! While Wolverine may not have held a central role in the comic book versions of Secret Wars, the MCU has a knack for redefining characters and storylines. So who knows? Maybe this time around, Wolverine will steal the spotlight from Doctor Doom.

3 Kitty Pryde & Wolverine

A Duo Story Of Assassins And Growth

Best Comics For A Wolverine Movie Post-Deadpool & Wolverine
  • Released: November 10, 1984
  • Created by: Chris Claremont, Al Milgrom

Wolverine has had significant screen time in the past and his fame is still growing. But, introducing his bond with Kitty Pryde could shift focus onto other Mutant characters. This can be done by pairing him up with these characters, similar to how Deadpool & Wolverine showcased two distinct characters interacting with each other.

The relationship between Kitty Pryde and Wolverine offers an enjoyable dynamic, with their shared adventures delving into Kitty’s abilities and personal development, all while showcasing Wolverine’s characteristic brutal side and tender moments as he resides in his Japanese sanctuary.

2 Uncanny X-Force

Wolverine Forms A Deadly Black Ops Unit Of Mutants

  • Released: October 6, 2010
  • Created by: Rick Remender, Jerome Opena

It’s possible that joining the X-Force might be a big step, given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t yet introduced the X-Men. However, if it’s true that the X-Men have been operating in the background all along, with Wolverine leading a covert team of mutants called the X-Force, this could provide an intriguing plotline, particularly in an adult-oriented movie or series starring Wolverine and Deadpool.

It’s thrilling to imagine Wolverine and Deadpool teaming up again due to their electric dynamic and action-packed interactions. Yet, it’s the unique idea of Uncanny X-Force that captivates, as Deadpool serves as the group’s voice of reason and moral compass. This role often puts him at odds with Wolverine during intense conflicts, as they strive to accomplish what the X-Men can’t.

1 Not Dead Yet

Wolverine’s Past Sees Him Vulnerable And Hunted

Best Comics For A Wolverine Movie Post-Deadpool & Wolverine
  • Released: October 22, 1997
  • Created by: Warren Ellis, Leinl Francis Yu

A character over two centuries old, it’s understandable that Wolverine has more foes than friends. When Logan encounters an assumed ancient Scottish comrade, he stumbles upon a vengeance scheme, one too lethal and risky to involve the X-Men. This situation offers a great opportunity for a standalone Wolverine film, leaving the X-Men out, and reveals a vulnerable Wolverine reconnecting with old faces that evoke feelings of guilt and kinship.

In this tale, Wolverine finds himself pursued, as the elusive White Ghost, or McLeish, employs adamantium snares and explosives in an attempt to eradicate this Mutant forever. A 90s-style revenge adventure could be exactly what Logan needs, sans the extensive Marvel universe characters.
