Towards the closing moments of Chapter 1, Kris, Susie, and Ralsei encounter an odd adversary named Rouxls Kaard, who boasts the title “Duke of Puzzles.” Despite this grandiose moniker, all his puzzles are surprisingly simple to decipher. What’s more, he manages the shop within the King’s castle, a detail that might leave players amazed. His egotistical yet entertaining persona, extravagant appearance, and nearly inscrutable accent make Rouxls Kaard one of the most endearing characters from the first chapter.

Luckily for his supporters, he continued his journey in Chapters 2 and 3, aiming to take on the “Fun Gang” with an odd or peculiar predicament. His presence in Chapter 3: Late Night, where he became entangled in Tenna’s TV show and unexpectedly formed a trio with Lanino and Elnina, was side-splittingly funny and undeniably one of the best moments in the entire chapter. Regrettably, Rouxls Kaard was missing from Chapter 4, but fans can anticipate his return in upcoming chapters.

After much discussion and hypothesis among fans, they finally encountered him in Chapter 4: Prophecy, but under the alias “The Old Man.

Initially, he seems weak and innocent, an old man who ambles slowly and sells goods in the ominous world known as the Dark World. However, the “Fun Gang” gradually discovers that his seemingly limited knowledge is far more extensive than initially perceived, with Susie being particularly adept at harnessing her healing magic under his tutelage. What’s more, the Old Man proves to be a skilled fighter when least expected, contributing significantly in the climactic battle against the Darkness Titan. Despite providing some answers, his appearance leaves the players (and fans) with even more questions, leading them to eagerly anticipate his potential return in Chapters 5 and beyond.

Initially, when Chapter 1 unfolded, it appeared that Kris and Susie’s schoolmates would merely serve as backdrop characters. However, luckily for us, some of them assumed significant roles in Chapter 2’s storyline. Among these key players was none other than Noelle Holiday, the timid yet clever deer girl who collaborated with Berdly on their school project and harbored feelings for Susie. An unforeseen twist led her to a digital realm known as Cyber World, where she was abducted by Queen. The Queen had designs to transform Noelle into one of her robot-faced minions and utilize the Dark Fountain to create a new world under her dominion.

In this chapter, Noelle not only starts asserting herself against the antagonist and expressing her true feelings (a situation strikingly similar to her interactions with her authoritative mother in the Bright Realm), but also forges a heartwarming, close friendship with Susie. This friendship sets the stage for one of the most captivating romantic narratives, arguably, in both Undertale and Deltarune. Noelle is significantly featured at the start of Chapter 4, offering players an intimate glimpse into her intricate bond with her mother, Carol. Her endearing character, her friendship with Susie, and her pivotal role in the main storyline suggest that she will likely take on a more significant part in future chapters.

Being different from other beings, her form, character, and combat style are reminiscent of advanced technology, robots, and the internet. This unique amalgamation makes her an intriguing blend of chaos and charm, offering a refreshing twist for those who feared she might merely be a female replica of King.

The character Queen is undeniably hilarious and single-handedly provides some of the most amusing scenes in the entire game. For instance, there’s the episode where she repeatedly eludes her newest minion, Berdly, because she finds him irritating. In a surprising turn of events, she even forms a temporary alliance with Kris (her adversary) to evade him. Moreover, her two boss battles are also exceptionally inventive and enjoyable, particularly the second one where players engage in an intense but exciting boxing match against GIGA Queen, reminiscent of the classic game Punch-Out. It’s no wonder that Queen gained immense popularity among fans following the release of her chapter.

4. Mr. Ant Tenna

Its leading figure and adversary is none other than the eccentric Mr. Ant Tenna, who captivates players due to being the sole character rendered with pre-rendered 3D graphics before being converted into a 2D sprite. His flamboyant game show host demeanor and his peculiar television-based abilities make him the highlight of the chapter, and one of the most striking characters in the entire game.

Tenna compels Kris, Susie, and Ralsei to join a game show featuring various boards themed on popular TV categories such as video games, cooking, music, westerns, etc. This provides Tenna an opportunity to display his comedic side in each round. However, it’s later revealed that beneath his outrageous persona lies a sad and troubling past: Tenna was once Dreemurr’s television, feeling neglected after years of disuse, particularly since Asgore left the house and Asriel went off to college. This backstory adds depth to his character, making him even more intriguing. It’s impressive how Toby Fox and his team created another TV host villain who stands apart from Mettaton in terms of appearance and feel from the game Undertale.
