Best Dungeons In The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

As someone who has spent countless hours exploring the mystical realms of Hyrule, I must say that my favorite temple from “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” is undoubtedly the Jabul Ruins. Unlike some of the other temples, which can be overly complex or filled with gimmicks that don’t quite fit the theme, Jabul Ruins stands out for its simplicity and execution.

In the game “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” you won’t find an overwhelming number of dungeons compared to some more recent “Zelda” titles like “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom.” Instead, the dungeons are richer and more traditional in this game. Expect to engage in familiar activities such as solving puzzles and locating a boss key for the final door.

Some of these dungeons are fun in design and some will have players pulling their hair out. For the main ones in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, let’s rank them all out. To fully get into all of these dungeons, there will be spoilers.

8 Null’s Body

The Final Dungeon’s Lost Potential

The game’s ultimate dungeon, known as Null’s Body, is quite brief, considering it encompasses the Still World prologue. Given its potential, with Link and Zelda collaborating throughout, one might expect an immediate success. The dungeon features combat areas, as well as puzzle-solving rooms where the duo joins forces.

Afterward, there’s a division in the underground lair, denying the long-awaited reunion fans have envisioned for years. The ultimate adversary, Null, is intricate but not particularly difficult. Instead, it’s more about endurance than sheer power. It’s disappointing that this game’s final dungeon didn’t culminate in a grand finale.

7 Hyrule Castle

A Tough Stealth Battle Through Darkness

1) In the game Echoes of Wisdom, Hyrule Castle is visited on two occasions. During the first visit, Zelda manages to escape her doppelganger father. The second visit, however, carries a more somber tone as the castle gets engulfed by a rift, providing players with increased exploration opportunities. This dungeon’s key feature lies in stealth elements, which can leave players feeling quite on edge.

In case some shadowy sentinels lay a hand on Zelda, she’ll be pulled into an abyss. These zones have save points, but occasionally they position players in such a tricky spot that going back to a previous save might be wiser. It’s more aggravating than engaging, as the stealth elements don’t quite match up to classics like Metal Gear Solid. However, the final battle with Ganon is fairly impressive.

6 Faron Temple

A Whole Lots Of Spiders

Faron Temple’s design is complex, leading players to navigate both within the temple and into the tranquil Still World to discover multiple entry points. This makes it the most non-linear dungeon in the game, which might be perplexing even with a map, but could potentially intrigue certain gamers.

In this part, it’s worth noting that stealth plays a significant role in the preparations for Deku Prison, which I found frustrating, even compared to Hyrule Castle. However, once you get past that initial challenge, the Faron Temple isn’t lacking in appeal. In fact, as a player, you get to feel like Spiderman, swinging around and battling enemies, including the dungeon’s boss, Gohma, with all your web-slinging skills.

5 Suthorn Ruins

A Good Tutorial For The Road Ahead

In “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” players will initially explore the Suthorn Ruins, their first substantial challenge. Following a quick passage through a fissure, they’ll encounter a typical layout featuring ancient stone structures and subterranean caves. This dungeon is meticulously crafted to familiarize players with the Echo system.

As I ventured into the Suthorn Ruins, I found no grand spectacle, but a delightful playground instead. Here, I could scramble over boulders, construct makeshift bridges using beds, and even cling to spiderwebs for an added challenge. The final boss, Seismic Talus, might not have been the most inspiring with its run-of-the-mill rock golem appearance, but it served its purpose well in preparing us for greater adventures ahead.

4 Gerudo Sanctum

Sifting Through Sandy Puzzles

The Gerudo Sanctum dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom shares a similar look with Suthorn Ruins, but the challenges are more intricate. They involve manipulating sand and strategically positioning statues. Certain sections require you to first clear out the sand before progress can be made.

In a Zelda game, it’s not unusual to find such gimmicks in dungeons, but this one is particularly cool. It has a retro feel, as the design of the Gerudo Sanctum resembles the Desert Palace from “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”. This boss, Mogryph, offers quite a challenge – he’s a mole that can sprout wings and generate waves of sand to harm players.

3 Eldin Temple

Gliding Through A Fiery Abyss

Best Dungeons In The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

In “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” Eldin Temple is a challenging labyrinth for ill-prepared players. Having a Fire-Resistant potion on hand, such as the Golden Chilly Smoothie, would be wise to avoid lava damage since this dungeon is built within a volcano. The difficulty level increases when players reach the boss room because Volvagia is covered in that fiery red substance. Moreover, the puzzles within this temple have an unexpected twist to them.

In this volcanic labyrinth, adventurers may either strategically position large boulders over rivers of molten lava to traverse or they might summon an airborne creature named Echo to navigate around clouds of ash. Regardless, the solutions were unconventional and somewhat out of sync with the dungeon’s volcanic motif, but they still managed to intrigue us.

2 Lanayru Temple

A Chilling Hike And A Double Dose Of Bosses

Scaling Hebra Mountain is a tough task that leads to Lanayru Temple, where players must concoct numerous warming drinks for survival. Inside the temple, they won’t have to worry about getting too cold (unless they dip into water pools). The unique feature of this level revolves around temperature – it could be either hot or cold depending on the circumstances. There are areas with massive fans, and inserting a fire crystal into its socket will melt the ice in that room; alternatively, placing an ice crystal will freeze everything within.

In the initial battle, an unnamed boss presents a challenge through its ability to both heat and cool. Players must freeze this amorphous cephalopod-like creature, attack it, and repeat this process multiple times since it continuously divides. This boss is more intricate than Skorchill, the main adversary. Navigating the ice-laden Lanayru Temple may prove challenging for players, but its unique features make it distinctive in comparison to other battles.

1 Jabul Ruins

Simple In Design And Execution

In “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” the Jabul Ruins dungeon presents a simple yet intriguing layout. Upon entering this vast chamber featuring a large drain and a central fountain, players aim to make the fountain spray water higher, allowing them to advance to the next level. Alongside each landing, there are two entrances that offer different paths forward.

Unraveling the mystery hidden behind each door allows for the creation of a fresh water passageway, ultimately contributing to the flow of the fountain. After acquiring the knowledge from the crevice preceding this point, players can devise creative and engaging solutions to these puzzles. Moreover, this labyrinth hosts two formidable bosses, Lord Jabu-Jabu and Vocavor, who are known for their difficulty, making the Jabul Ruins an enticing challenge within the game.
