As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen and played my fair share of RPGs that offer party-based combat systems. But let me tell you, dear reader, Metaphor: ReFantazio has taken this concept to a whole new level. The freedom to switch parties during combat, coupled with the ability to equip any Archetype to each party member, is nothing short of revolutionary.
ReFantazio offers players a high degree of flexibility regarding the choice of their party, allowing them to change it frequently, even during battles. Every party member can be equipped with any of the primary Character Types, although each character excels more in certain types due to their initial attributes.
For optimal results in the latter stages of the game, it’s advisable to fine-tune your party setup rather than relying on any random combination of characters or roles. The following party configuration offers an ideal balance, particularly during the last month of the game:
Best Endgame Line-Up In Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Protagonist – Prince
- Junah – Royal Masked Dancer
- Eupha – Royal Summoner
- Basilio – Royal Berserker
It’s not too unexpected that each party member will need to activate their Royal Archetype near the game’s end, given that they significantly surpass other Archetypes in terms of stats alone. You can transfer any desired skills via skill Inheritance, but each character’s typical role should be as described.
Protagonist – Front Line Damage Dealer
As a gamer, I can’t stress enough how essential it is for my Protagonist to carry the Utilitarian’s Manual at all times. This little manual reduces the cost of synthesizing the Royal Sword skill to merely one Press Turn icon. This sword becomes my primary weapon of choice due to its ability to deal Almighty damage and, more importantly, because it allows me to save Hero’s Cry for critical moments, effectively doubling my turn count.
Junah – Backline Support Magic
The Masked Dancer character is quite adaptable due to the use of masks, making it advisable for Junah to concentrate on supportive roles such as providing buffs, healing, applying debuffs, and dealing some damage when necessary, especially in situations where other aspects are already taken care of. The Masked Dancer boasts a variety of skills that can exploit an enemy’s vulnerabilities across different elements, enabling other team members to inflict more damage on these weaknesses, even if they don’t naturally exist. Prioritizing Hellfire Dance is suggested because it synergizes well with Eupha’s Summon Dragon God ability.
Eupha – Backline Magic Damage Dealer
The Royal Summoner can call upon spells from all elements due to artifacts known as Vessels, but these must be crafted beforehand. This versatility makes Eupha an effective combatant against any adversary, and when combined with Junah’s abilities, it exposes vulnerabilities in enemies. Skills like Summon Dragon God not only inflict substantial damage but also weaken opponents, thereby aiding the team while still prioritizing damage output.
Basilio – Frontline Damage Dealer & Tank
With passives from both the Berserker Lineage and the learned skills from the Royal Berserker, Basilio will swiftly reach his maximum health capacity of 999, making him an incredibly durable party member despite his high damage potential. The Royal Berserker acquires two potent physical attacks; one that weakens Strike or penetrates any resistances, ensuring he can always deal massive damage regardless of the enemy. Additionally, he learns a debuff skill that decreases all enemies’ attack and defense by two ranks, but pay attention to his MP levels. When combined with Summon Dragon God, this skill, Peerless War Cry, can fully debuff an enemy’s attack and defense on the first turn. If the enemy has resistance to fire, consider using Junah’s Hellfire Dance for added effect.
