The popular anime and manga series known as My Hero Academia, which has gained international acclaim, is now approaching its finish line. The manga has come to a close, while the final, much-anticipated season of the anime is slated for release in 2025. The captivating tale of Izuku Midoriya and his journey to assume the role of All Might’s successor as the embodiment of peace is heading towards a thrilling resolution. The One For All quirk, a pivotal element, has become increasingly significant in these escalating events.
In the realm where ‘good’ and ‘evil’ serve as benchmarks, numerous characters in My Hero Academia initially appeared as adversaries, holding grudges against certain main characters. Yet, as the story unfolds across the anime series, these antagonists undergo personal transformations, shifting their perspectives and ambitions. This evolution often leads them to forge friendships with Deku and All Might, even going so far as to become allies and eventual companions of theirs. In fact, it’s common to see some of the initial enemies turn into allies throughout My Hero Academia.
La Brava
The Computer Whiz That Aided Gentle Criminal Soon Helps The Heroes’ Fight
La Brava, the flamboyant sidekick of the mild-mannered crook, often assumes the role of an antagonist alongside him. Operating covertly as a skilled computer hacker, she strives to boost her crime-partner’s reputation by making him a viral sensation while breaking the law. Leveraging her hacking skills, La Brava attempts to help the mild-mannered crook gain access to U.A. High School. However, Midoriya manages to put an end to La Brava’s support of criminal activities and her underhanded schemes in their notoriously illegal exploits.
Following her arrest, La Brava seeks redemption by secretly aiding Naomasa Tsukauchi and the police force against the League of Villains. By hacking their system, she foils their evil plans. In a critical situation, she also assists Midoriya and the heroes, transforming into an invaluable ally.
Shoto Todoroki
U.A. Sports Festival Rival Becomes A Reliable Friend To Midoriya
Initially, Deku and Shoto Todoroki weren’t the best of friends; their relationship had its ups and downs. At the U.A. Sports Festival, a significant event where they engaged in an intense battle, Shoto appeared distant towards Midoriya. Since childhood, Shoto was destined for greatness as a hero, which put him under immense pressure from his father, Endeavor, shaping Shoto’s cold demeanor.
During the Sports Festival, Shoto vented his bottled-up anger towards Midoriya, aiming to defeat him exclusively using his ice power. However, after Midoriya aided Shoto in overcoming his father’s beliefs and grudges, they formed a powerful bond based on trust and fellowship. They frequently joined forces in battles, with their outstanding synergy being showcased prominently during their harrowing encounter against Stain.
Endeavor
Terrible Father And Hated Hero Atones For His Mistakes
After All Might retired as the number one hero, Endeavor, once hailed as his successor, has faced a drastic turn in public opinion, now being seen as an adversary by both his family and the general public. This shift is largely due to Endeavor’s questionable parenting style and intimidating demeanor.
As it turns out, Endeavor is linked to Dabi, one of the main villains in the League of Villains, who happens to be his own son. Moreover, Endeavor’s drive to surpass All Might even extends to pushing Shota, another of his sons, to greater heights, which ultimately leads to a series of consequences for Endeavor.
In due time, he comes to understand the severe errors he made. To make amends, Endeavor sets out to reconcile with his family, a task complicated by Dabi, a painful echo of past wrongs whom he believed was long gone. In the climactic battle, he bravely assumes command, rallying the heroes against All For One and Shigaraki, demonstrating heroism amidst overwhelming power.
Stain
Notorious Murderer Who Believes In Heroes Like All Might
In the popular anime series MHA, Stain is one of the most well-known antagonists who made a significant impact on Japanese society. His actions, marked by violence, led to the deaths of 17 heroes, earning him notoriety. Despite his general disdain for most heroes and their beliefs, Stain admires All Might and Midoriya, appreciating their heroism and dedication to the greater good – a quality that many of his contemporaries seem to lack.
Following his escape from prison, primarily due to All For One’s intervention, Stain surprisingly chooses to support All Might instead of persisting with his villainous ambitions. He hands over a data-filled disc to All Might, which is instrumental in aiding the heroes in their battle against All For One. This act clearly demonstrates that Stain’s respect for All Might has endured.
Lady Nagant
Elite Sniper Who Joins The Heroes After A Stint In Prison
Lady Nagant, once hailed as an accurate marksman, initially garnered high regard due to her heroic work. However, she grew disenchanted with the obligations of her position within the Hero Public Safety Commission, where she performed assassinations to preserve the spotless reputation and thriving nature of the pro-hero sector. Her spree of killings left her consumed by guilt, culminating in a rebellion. Nagant ultimately took the life of the Safety Commission’s president, which resulted in her imprisonment at Tartarus.
Following the outbreak of All For One in prisons nationwide in Japan, the main villain assigns Nagant on a lethal assignment to eliminate Midoriya, exploiting her exceptional sniping ability. However, during this mission and her confrontation with Midoriya, Nagant experiences inspiration and empathy towards Midoriya’s ideals, almost resulting in her own demise when All For One secretly plants explosives on Nagant that ultimately detonate. In the climactic battle, an injured Nagant demonstrates her loyalty as she fires a bullet from her rifle at Shigaraki with the intention of preventing him from using Decay. This act positions Nagant once again as a hero during the most crucial moments.
Gentle Criminal
Aids Midoriya In His Ultimate Fight With Shigaraki
In the popular series MHA, one villain who often keeps to himself is Gentle Criminal, a man eager for social recognition. Entering the scene in season 4, Gentle Criminal (known as Danjuro Tobita) and his devoted sidekick La Brava have been captivating the world with their criminal acts broadcasted live. Eventually, Midoriya finds himself caught up in their antics.
After their ambitious scheme for widespread fame fails disastrously, the Former Criminal (previously known as the Gentle Criminal) emerges from a stay at a maximum-security prison with a newfound determination to do what’s right. He thwarts the escape plans of all inmates at Mizuku Prison who were preparing to make their break after the attacks by Nomu and All For One. In the climactic encounter between Deku and Shigaraki, the Former Criminal unexpectedly intervenes, saving the battlefield where Midoriya is engaged in his most grueling fight. By holding back the island from collapsing, he creates a temporary respite for the engineers and craftsmen to address the underlying problems. In this manner, he covertly supports Midoriya, the boy he once intended to deceive during his villainous phase.
Katsuki Bakugo
Deku’s Greatest Rival Becomes His Closest Friend
Katsuki Bakugo had been Midoriya’s chief rival since they were kids, with their rivalry stemming from their early childhood days together. Bakugo would frequently belittle Deku due to his lack of a quirk and weak appearance. As they both attended U.A. High School, Bakugo grew increasingly irritated by Deku’s progress, particularly when his strong quirk appeared on the scene, which only served to fuel Bakugo’s anger, resentment, and jealousy towards Deku. Their animosity peaked in a fierce confrontation, during which they both expressed their frustrations. It was at this time that All Might revealed he had chosen Midoriya as his successor for the power of One For All.
Following their grueling fight, the duo grew significantly closer, with Bakugo being among the few privy to One For All and Midoriya’s extraordinary quirk. In the Paranormal Liberation War, Deku and Bakugo teamed up as a pair against Shigaraki. Remarkably, Bakugo even took the initiative to shield Deku from a brutal attack by the villain, transforming into a loyal friend and ally who was willing to sacrifice himself for his former adversary. This moment, once inconceivable given their strained relationship early on, now stood as a testament to their growth and strengthened bond.
