It’s known for being a straightforward and accessible class, perfect for both new and experienced Dungeons & Dragons players. Simply put, Fighters are masters of combat – they excel at fighting, and that’s really all there is to it!
At first glance, the Fighter class in Solasta 2 appears similar to the one in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it’s actually much more powerful. Thanks to the new Weapon Mastery system, Fighters have a lot more strategic choices during combat.
Every adventuring group benefits from a tough character who can protect the more vulnerable ones, and the Fighter class excels at this role. This time, the variety of weapons is key, so create a strong build to be ready for any challenge you encounter.
This guide is written for the initial version of Solasta 2, which became available on March 12, 2026. Because the game will be updated with new content and features—including raising the level cap—this guide will be revised as needed to stay current.

Most Fighters excel in close combat, so Strength is their most crucial ability. Prioritize increasing your Strength to the maximum level early on!
Okay, so after Strength, I think Constitution and Dexterity are the next biggest things to focus on. Constitution is awesome because it gives you more health, and so many enemy attacks and spells require you to make a saving throw using that stat. Plus, Dexterity is super important – it boosts your Armor Class, which basically means enemies have a harder time hitting you in the first place. It’s all about staying alive, right?
Dexterity is likely the more useful skill, especially since you’ll often have a ranged weapon available. It’s the primary stat for ranged attacks, so keeping it high is important.

Dwarves are a strong choice for character creation in Solasta 2. They’re tough, resisting poison and boasting more health than most other races. Plus, their Tremorsense ability lets them see hidden enemies and protects them from being blinded – a common tactic used by enemy spellcasters.
Humans are a strong choice for Ancestry because they start with an extra Origin Feat. Some of the best feats to choose are Vigilant (which helps you avoid being surprised in combat), Savage Attacker (allowing you to maximize weapon damage), and Stable (giving you more health and a chance to recover quickly when downed).

In Solasta 2, your character’s Background is a key decision. It affects both your stats and grants a special ability called an Origin Feat. Here are some of the best Backgrounds to choose for a Fighter character:
This choice not only improves your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, but also gives you the Savage Attacker feat, which could significantly boost your attack damage.
Similar to Wanderer, Lowlife increases your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution. Instead of a special attack, it grants the Quick Origin Feat, which makes you faster by 10 feet and makes it harder for enemies to attack you when you’re moving. Choose Lowlife if you want to be a mobile character and don’t plan on taking the Rogue class.

If you’re playing the Fighter, your role is primarily combat-focused. Prioritize developing Athletics and Perception – especially Athletics, which should be your strongest skill. Let the more diplomatic crew members handle problems that can’t be solved with force, as the Rogue is best suited for those situations.
While you can create a Fighter focused on Charisma, it’s generally more effective to play a Paladin instead. Paladins, also available now, naturally use Charisma for their abilities and are better equipped to be the party’s spokesperson.

I’m really excited about the Fighter class in Solasta! You get to pick a subclass at level 3, and there are two options: the Aether Warden and the Commander. It’s cool that they’re following the updated Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook rules for subclass selection.
The Aether Warden is a spellcasting class for Fighters, granting access to two Cantrips and three Wizard spells. They use Intelligence to power these spells, though Constitution can be used for attack spells instead. Aether Wardens can cast spells even while wearing armor, and their Mythology of Might ability means they don’t need an Arcane Focus to do so.
In Solasta 2, characters can cast spells even while wearing medium or heavy armor, something that wasn’t possible in older versions of Dungeons & Dragons. However, they still need to be trained to use that armor, which can be a bit more challenging to achieve.
The Commander gains proficiency in two additional skills: Athletics, Insight, Intimidation, Investigation, Perception, Persuasion, or Survival. They also learn Rousing Shout, a powerful ability that gives nearby allies (within 30 feet) a better chance to hit on their next attack roll – as long as they attack before the Commander’s next turn. The Commander can use Rousing Shout a number of times each day equal to their Constitution modifier, and it only takes a Bonus Action to perform.
In Solasta 2, the Commander is easily the strongest Fighter subclass. Its signature ability, Rousing Shout, is incredibly powerful because it gives your entire party a significant boost to their attacks – everyone gets Advantage! This is especially helpful if you have a Rogue, guaranteeing their next Sneak Attack. Even without a Rogue, simply giving the Fighter Advantage on their attacks is more valuable than many spells other characters might already have.

At the start of the game, Fighters choose three Weapon Masteries. These choices determine which weapons gain special abilities when used in combat. While you can still wield any weapon, only those you’ve mastered will have extra effects. Here are some of the best weapon choices for Fighters in Solasta 2:
The Greataxe, also known as Cleave, is a powerful weapon with a unique ability. When you defeat an enemy with it, you get a free attack against another nearby enemy, though this extra attack won’t benefit from your usual skill bonuses.
As a huge fan of reliable damage, I love the Greatsword/Graze combo! It basically solves the problem of whiffing attacks. Even if I miss hitting a creature, I still get to deal damage equal to my Ability Modifier, which is awesome and keeps me in the fight!

The Longsword and Sap combination is a classic choice in Dungeons & Dragons. If you prefer a defensive playstyle, the Longsword is a great pick. The Sap ability adds a useful effect – when you hit an enemy with the Longsword, their next attack against anyone has a disadvantage.
If you find yourself starting fights at a distance from your opponent – which happens often – a longbow is a great choice. It deals significant damage and has a special ability: it slows enemies down. This can force them to use a dash to close the gap, potentially leaving them vulnerable and unable to attack immediately.

Once you reach level 4 in any class in Solasta 2, your character will be able to select a Feat.
Eager for Battle gives you one extra stat point, a significant bonus to starting combat (Advantage on Initiative rolls), and increases your movement speed by 10 feet. It’s a solid choice if you’re unsure what other Feat to select.
If you attack with a two-handed weapon, you can use your Bonus Action to make an additional attack that deals 1d4 + your Strength modifier damage. You’ll also temporarily increase your Strength score by 1.
Being ambidextrous gives you more combat choices. When you wield a weapon in each hand, anything that isn’t a two-handed or heavy weapon is considered light. This feature will be particularly useful until the Ranger class is available in Solasta 2.
