Best Games That Let You Live a Perfect New Life

Life isn’t perfect, and that’s probably why many people find comfort in video games. Games offer a sense of control and the ability to optimize everything for maximum enjoyment. We can build ideal lives – perfect homes, peaceful farms – and become the people we aspire to be with relative ease. Progress is clear and straightforward, marked by things like experience points and skill bars. It’s a simple, satisfying experience where you always know what you need to succeed.

Look, after a tough day, sometimes you just want to chill and have fun, right? You don’t always want a super hard game. If that sounds like you, and you’re looking to lose yourself in a new virtual world, I’ve got some recommendations. They’re especially great if you like life sims, but honestly, even if you’ve never played one before, they’re easy to pick up and enjoy. You won’t need a ton of explanation to get started!

Stardew Valley

Escape The Corporate Dread To Become A Farmer

Stardew Valley is an incredibly successful indie game that’s become hugely popular. You’ll likely recognize its charming pixel art and bright colors, but despite looking simple, it’s full of meaningful themes, heartwarming experiences, and surprisingly enchanting moments.

You play as someone escaping the daily grind of city life and a job at Joja Corporation by moving to the peaceful Stardew Valley. You inherit your grandfather’s run-down farm and set about restoring it to its former beauty, all while getting to know the friendly people of Pelican Town. The mayor, Lewis, will also ask for your help to revive the town’s Community Center, which is a big project in itself. With seasonal festivals, a wide variety of crops to grow, animals to raise, fishing, mining, and quests from the villagers, there’s always something to do. The game is all about the satisfaction of watching your farm flourish over time, and you can play at your own speed. If you change your mind about leaving Joja Corp, you even have the option to help them take over the valley instead of restoring the Community Center.

Coral Island

Abandon Pokyo For Wonderful Island Life

Like Stardew Valley, Coral Island lets you escape to a peaceful life away from the city. You play as a new farmer arriving on the island, and if you’ve enjoyed games like Stardew Valley, you’ll quickly find yourself immersed in the gameplay.

Beyond the main gameplay, this game also lets you help protect and explore the oceans, uncovering hidden secrets along the way. I don’t want to give too much away, but you’ll encounter a diverse and memorable cast of characters. You can really make this island your own with extensive customization options for your home, farm, and character, and there are plenty of potential partners to build a life with. Plus, the pets are a standout feature – you can choose from cats, dogs, lizards, foxes, or even rabbits! If you’ve always wanted to build your dream farm, filled with orchards, flowers, or livestock, this game is definitely worth checking out.

Fields of Mistria

A Lovely Retro Farm Sim With A Touch Of Magic

If you’re into farming sims, check out Fields of Mistria. Keep in mind it’s currently in Early Access, meaning it’s still being developed and doesn’t have all its planned features yet. Even so, there’s already plenty to do! It features a charming, retro-inspired pixel art style that fans of Stardew Valley and classic anime are sure to love.

This game has everything you’d expect from a farming simulator: you inherit a run-down farm and work to help the town of Mistria recover after an earthquake. You can build relationships with the townspeople, customize your farm and character, and enjoy activities like fishing, mining, and growing crops. Plus, there’s a touch of mystery and magic to keep things engaging. I recommend trying it out, even though it’s still in early access!

The Sims 4

Live Exactly The Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of

If you’re looking for a game that lets you create and live out any kind of life you want – without the farming focus – I highly recommend The Sims series. The Sims 4 is the most current option, but The Sims 2 offers a charming, classic experience if you don’t mind an older game. The base game of The Sims 4 is free, and there’s tons of free downloadable content available, so you can have fun without buying much else. However, the expansion packs really add to the gameplay, letting you pursue different careers, become famous, go to college, or even run a farm with llamas. There’s also plenty of supernatural content if you’re into fantasy, including vampires, werewolves, and magic.

As I said before, mods can dramatically enhance the game, adding realistic emotions, unique personalities, and even more mature content like gangs, criminals, and illicit dealings. You have complete freedom to control any Sim and shape their life however you choose. There are no rules! You can use cheats to quickly become wealthy and build the house of your dreams, ignoring your Sims’ basic needs, or you can embrace a challenging rags-to-riches story and build a lasting legacy that will test your skills. Ultimately, the only thing holding back The Sims 4 is your own creativity.

inZOI

A More Intricate And Realistic Life Sim

Currently, inZOI is making waves in the life simulation genre. This Early Access game from KRAFTON has come a long way since its initial release, with the developers consistently listening to and implementing player feedback. inZOI allows players to create highly detailed and unique characters, called Zoi, and place them in immersive in-game worlds. One of the game’s biggest strengths is its extensive customization options, featuring realistic graphics, stylish clothing, and a wide range of colors and patterns thanks to its color wheel. Utilizing AI features, players can even generate new designs, upload custom objects to be turned into 3D decorations, and create animations for their Zoi using personal videos.

The characters in this life simulation game are incredibly detailed and realistic, pushing the genre forward. It’s a beautiful and immersive way to create and live out your ideal life. You can choose from a good selection of jobs, and with a little help, build amazing, highly detailed homes. While it’s not perfect and could use more spontaneous events, you have complete control as the player, deciding how everything unfolds.
