This Sunday, February 8th, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots will compete in Super Bowl LX, the year’s biggest football game! Both teams had equally strong seasons, making this matchup especially exciting. While the game itself will last about an hour, the entire broadcast will be over three hours long, filled with commercials, the halftime show, and even a special Pokemon segment – all of which promise to be entertaining. Of course, everyone watching knows there will be downtime, and thankfully, there will be plenty of food to enjoy – which is always the best part of any sports event!
When the game pauses, don’t just sit there! Forget about your phone or staring into space. Instead, play quick, fun party games to keep everyone energized and entertained. These games should be short and easy to start and stop, so people can join in whenever they have a moment. Here are a few ideas that are perfect for a Super Bowl party.

Heave Ho
Chaotic Party Co-Op Game To Create A Sense Of Togetherness
If you’re looking for a fun game to play with friends during commercial breaks – like during the Super Bowl – check out Heave Ho. It’s a 4-player party game where everyone works together instead of competing. That makes it perfect for groups who prefer to avoid arguments, keeping the mood light and friendly. Heave Ho is easy to pick up and play, so it’s good for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experienced gamers (though it might be a little tricky for very young children).
The game is easy to pick up: you simply reach, grab, and swing to the next platform. It might take a few tries, but you and your family will quickly get the hang of it and have a lot of fun. It’s so engaging, you might even lose track of time and forget about other things, like the Super Bowl!
You’ll need a shared screen – a TV or monitor will work. A computer or Nintendo Switch is best. Each player will also need a Joy-Con controller (or other compatible controller).
Cake Bash
A Sweet Treat To Make The Super Bowl’s Commercial Breaks Go Down Smoothly
While Mario Party is known as the ultimate party game, it doesn’t work well during events like the Super Bowl. You need a game with quick, independent rounds that fit easily into commercial breaks – lasting just a few minutes each. Cake Bash is perfect for this, letting up to 4 players quickly jump into a series of fast-paced mini-games with minimal downtime.
Although I think Switch is the best place to play with friends, the PC version of Cake Bash is currently heavily discounted on Steam.
Okay, so I just finished playing this game and it’s seriously adorable! The art style is super cute and the whole thing is just really lighthearted and funny – it’s not about being competitive at all, which is nice. It’s a total laugh from beginning to end and perfectly safe for the whole family. The mini-games are mostly about silly fights, but they also make you think a little bit and kind of guide you towards how to play. Honestly, it’s just a really fun time!
You’ll need a way to share your screen, ideally on a Nintendo Switch. Each player will also need their own Joy-Con or controller.
Heads Up!
Now, Something For Mobile Users
It’s hard to imagine not having a game console, but many families might be stuck without a Switch or Steam Deck during the Super Bowl. Luckily, almost everyone owns a smartphone, which means tons of fun, easy-to-play games are readily available whenever you need them.
Heads Up! is a really popular game, great for quick rounds that only take a minute or two. It’s a mix of charades and trivia – one person holds a phone to their forehead displaying a word, and their teammates give clues to help them guess it. It’s easy to understand, fast-paced, and works well with big groups. Plus, you can find it in lots of different themed versions.
Hardware needed: A smartphone, and only one is required. Install the app (which costs $1.99).
The Jackbox Party Pack (Any Pack Really)
The Ultimate Franchise For Parties
Okay, seriously, whenever I’m hanging with friends and we’re looking for something to play, Jackbox Games always comes to mind. They just have SO many different mini-games, there’s bound to be something everyone will enjoy. You’ll probably want to grab a pack of 5 games, or if you’re a regular player, subscribing to Jackbox through Amazon Luna gets you access to everything they offer.
Most mobile games are easy to pick up and play because they only need phones – no complicated controllers. Jackbox Games are designed for quick rounds, perfect for filling short breaks, and are generally family-friendly. While all the Jackbox packs are fun, and The Jackbox Party Pack 11 is the newest, I think The Jackbox Party Pack 3 is the best choice for families.
Hardware required: Shared screen, phones for players, and internet.
