It’s common to see Hell portrayed in video games, with titles like Doom and Dante’s Inferno being prime examples. Although Heaven has been featured, most gamers would likely say that Hell appears much more often in video games.
That’s why games offering a glimpse of Heaven are so appealing. The idea of experiencing an afterlife for the virtuous is fascinating, and players are eager to try any game that features levels set in Heaven.
Valheim
The Main Goal Of The Game Is For Warriors To Earn Their Place In Valhalla
Valheim is quickly becoming incredibly popular in the survival game world, and players are excited to see how successful the full 1.0 version will be. The game offers a lot of fun with its diverse environments to explore, challenging bosses to defeat, and the ability to play and survive with friends.
The core goal of this game is for players to demonstrate they are skilled enough warriors to earn a place in Valhalla, the afterlife reserved for brave Nordic fighters. It’s a compelling idea that motivates players as they guide their character to prove they deserve a spot in this highly desired heaven.
Afterlife
The Demiurge Must Manage Both Heaven And Hell
As a fan of city builders, I think Afterlife is something really special. It offers a unique twist on the genre, and while it’s definitely challenging – it’s got that old-school difficulty that takes some getting used to – I think it’s totally worth it. The idea of managing both heaven and hell is just so cool and makes for some really novel gameplay!
The game feels reminiscent of beloved classics from LucasArts, tasking players with caring for both the world of the living and the spirits who eventually settle there. It’s unfortunate that not many people know about Afterlife and its special qualities, considering how original it is.
Bayonetta
Paradiso Is This Game’s Version Of Heaven
Bayonetta is a really stylish action game that players will love. It makes sense, then, that the game’s version of heaven is just as appealing, and maybe even more so. Paradiso, the realm of angels, is home to some of the most challenging enemies Bayonetta has to fight.
The world feels like a traditional vision of heaven, but with Bayonetta’s unique style. It’s a particularly memorable place in the game, and players will enjoy exploring it while stylishly defeating the hostile angels they encounter.
Diablo 3
The Game’s Fourth Act Takes Place In The High Heavens
Following three exciting stages where players become more powerful and collect improved gear, the fourth act of Diablo 3 moves the action to the High Heavens, and it’s considered the last part of the original game. In this act, players travel to the High Heavens to liberate it from the evil forces of Diablo.
Stopping these evil forces from ruining the world and defeating Diablo in an epic final battle provides a satisfying conclusion to the main story. The High Heavens offer an ideal setting for this intense showdown and doesn’t hold back. It’s a truly climactic encounter.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
Exploring Sovngarde Is A Great Change Of Pace
Since Skyrim is the land of the Nords, it makes sense that the game includes its own version of Valhalla. This is represented by Sovngarde, a spiritual realm that’s a stunning place to discover within the game.
This area offers a welcome contrast to the cold, icy landscapes of the Nordic regions, and its dreamlike appearance gives Skyrim‘s version of the afterlife for heroic Nords a beautiful, otherworldly quality. It’s perfect, then, that this place is where the final battle against Alduin takes place.
Neon White
Players Control A Neon Who Must Clean Up Heaven By Taking Out Demons At A Blistering Pace
Players who love Neon White will enjoy its fast-paced gameplay, where being quick and efficient is key. You play as a sinner from Hell-a “Neon”-sent to Heaven to eliminate demons. The game features exciting levels where you’re constantly racing against the clock.
The gameplay in Neon White cleverly mixes moving between levels with attacking enemies using cards, creating a really engaging and addictive experience. As you play, you’ll get better and better at the game’s systems, letting you speed through each level with impressive skill and flair.
Super Paper Mario
A Charming And Classic Take On Heaven
True to classic Mario style, the heaven in Super Paper Mario is wonderfully silly. This game’s version of paradise is called Overthere, and it’s a humorous counterpart to the underworld, which is playfully named Underwhere.
As a huge fan, it’s pretty clear what this is meant to be – heaven! There’s not much room for guessing. That classic, cloudy look of heaven is really well done, and it’s actually featured in what I think is the best-selling Paper Mario game ever. It’s just so gracefully depicted!
Final Fantasy 2
The Additional Soul Of Rebirth Storyline Sees Players Invade The Light Emperor’s Castle In Heaven

The Dawn of Souls remake of Final Fantasy 2 continues the story after players defeat the Emperor’s resurrected, incredibly difficult form, who aims to conquer the world using a demonic army. Appropriately, the last dungeon in the Soul of Rebirth storyline is set in heaven.
To be more precise, the dungeon players will navigate in this installment is Arubboth, a celestial palace. Defying the Light Emperor’s offers and delivering the final blow ended the journey of Firion, Maria, Leon, and Guy.
