In Borderlands 4, legendary weapons stand out with their extraordinary and potent abilities compared to other firearms and gear. These items typically offer significant boosts to a player’s strength, often becoming game-changing additions to one’s arsenal.
In Borderlands 4, legendary items are exceptionally scarce and players may not find one without investing some time in searching for them, or by having a stroke of extreme luck. To boost your chances of obtaining legendary items, consider trying these strategies instead.
Play on Hard Mode
In difficult mode, the drop rate of enemy loot is higher, but these enemies will deal stronger blows and be harder to defeat. Additionally, the elemental weaknesses of enemies become significantly more crucial when battling them at this level. For instance, if you attack a shield with an Incendiary weapon, the damage penalty against it will be greater.
Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to stick with the default setting (Normal mode) and complete the campaign first before focusing on gathering equipment earlier in the game. But if you’re eager to secure better items before the campaign concludes, then following this approach might be more beneficial for you.
In simpler terms, during the main game (the campaign), you can play on a challenging difficulty level called ‘Hard Mode’. Once the campaign ends though, this mode gets swapped out for something even more demanding called ‘Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode’.
Farming Bosses in Borderlands 4
In Borderlands 4, it’s more likely for bosses to drop legendary items compared to regular and tougher enemies. Fortunately, unlike in previous Borderlands games, players can now farm bosses by utilizing Moxxi’s Encore Machines. Simply deposit a set amount of Cash into the machine, then re-enter the boss arena to face them again.
To maximize your chances of acquiring legendary items while progressing through the campaign, it would be beneficial to confront the optional Vault monsters ahead of schedule. These creatures offer the best odds for legendary drops and are not particularly difficult to defeat. Nonetheless, you’ll need to gather all the Vault Key Fragments within a specific region to engage the Vault monster confined in a particular biome.
In Borderlands 4, each boss has its own specific collection of legendary items, meaning that not all legendaries in the game can be obtained simply by frequently battling one particular boss. Farming (repeatedly defeating) a boss may yield some legendaries, but not every one of them.
After opening a Vault, you’ll encounter three battles within the Vault before you can face the boss. Upon re-entering a Vault, you must traverse back to the Vault Monster’s arena from the entrance. Thankfully, previously activated jump pads will continue to function, so you won’t need to defeat enemies afresh each time you use them.
Among the three Vault Monsters, Origo is generally perceived as the least challenging to battle due to lacking any invincibility stages or stalling mechanisms. In many ways, this boss resembles older bosses from the game Borderlands. To fight it, simply enter its lair and fire away until it expels loot. Remember, after defeating a Vault Boss, don’t forget to open the red chests in the adjoining room. These could potentially house legendary items within them.
In the campaign, Splashzone, your initial encounter with the Psycho mini-boss, can be worth another try due to his relatively simple defeat.
