You’ll need it to build and improve devices on your farm, making it essential for progress. However, Starsand Island doesn’t offer a map showing where to find it, so this guide will show you the best locations.
We’ve scouted the Moonlit Forest on Starsand Island—the best place to mine—and found a perfect location for collecting Magnetite. If you’re looking for a consistent source of this important ore, read on for all the details.

Where to Find Magnetite
The area around Glintortle on Starsand Island, just north of Muray Valley, is a great place to collect a lot of Magnetite. You can find several ore deposits right in the boss arena, and you don’t even need to fight Glintortle to gather them—just avoid its attacks while you mine. While Magnetite can also be found in Moonlit Forest, this spot near Glintortle is the most efficient, typically giving you around 50 pieces each time you visit.
Okay, so if you want to mine Magnetite, you’re gonna need an Impact Hammer. I just found out you can buy the blueprint for it at Zerine’s General Store, but you have to get pretty far in the Crafting Profession first. Definitely something to work towards!

The best way to get Magnetite on Starsand Island is by mining ores deep within Moonlit Forest. You can also try using the Ore Analyzer on your farm to break down ores and potentially create Special Minerals, but the outcome is unpredictable.
You can also find magnetite chunks inside treasure chests on Starsand Island. Sometimes, characters will give them to you as presents or when you finish tasks and quests.
What to Do with Magnetite
Okay, so in the current version of Starsand Island, I’m mostly using Magnetite to make Magnets – you need a level-two Furnace for that. It’s also super important for building things like the Energy Converter. Actually, I first ran into Magnetite when Zerine asked me to build an Energy Converter for one of the Crafting Profession quests. It’s a key resource early on!
To craft a Magnet, place four Magnetite ores and one Coal into a level-two Furnace.
Generally, it’s better to save the Magnetite you find in Moonlit Forest instead of selling it right away. You only get a good price if you have a lot to sell.
