A great feature of first-person shooter (FPS) games is the ability to customize weapons in multiplayer mode. In Battlefield 6, each weapon has many different attachments you can combine to create your ideal build. While you have complete control over customization, some combinations, or ‘loadouts’, perform significantly better than others due to how well everything works together.
The M87A1 is the initial shotgun and a popular choice for many players. Here are some top Battlefield 6 loadouts that will maximize the potential of this already strong weapon.
How to Use M87A1 in Battlefield 6
Damage | 134 |
Rate of Fire | 94 |
Magazine | 8 |
Hipfire | 40 |
Precision | 12 |
Control | 6 |
Mobility | 52 |
ADS Speed | 250 |
Reload Speed | 1.167 |
Projectile Velocity | 400 |
Headshot Multiplier | x1.00 |
The M87A1 is a dependable shotgun you can bring to any fight. It deals the most damage of all shotguns in the game. Unlike other shotguns, the M87A1 is effective at medium distances thanks to its versatile ammunition, letting you take down enemies from further away. It also reloads incredibly fast, at just 1.167 seconds, so you can quickly refill its 8-round buckshot magazine and get back into the action.
Despite its strengths, this weapon isn’t perfect. It’s difficult to control, making quick, accurate follow-up shots a challenge due to its recoil. The slow firing rate makes it nearly impossible to handle multiple enemies effectively. Furthermore, if you aren’t using slugs, the buckshot isn’t accurate enough for medium-range fights and shouldn’t be relied upon in those situations.
Best M87A1 Builds in Battlefield 6

Scope | Iron Sights | PVQ-31 4.00X |
Optic Accessory | N/A | N/A |
The M87A1 is already a strong weapon even with basic attachments, but certain upgrades can significantly improve its performance. Since you’ll often be using this weapon without aiming down sights, focusing on hipfire accuracy is key, and the Red Laser is a great choice for that. Once you reach Mastery 15, the Blue Laser provides an extra boost to both hipfire and movement, making it a worthwhile addition. Similarly, the Stippled Stubby underbarrel attachment helps minimize recoil, which is important for maintaining control.
When choosing attachments for your shotgun, think about how you like to play. For close-quarters combat on smaller maps, a basic setup with Buckshot is effective. But you can also build a long-range shotgun by using a 4x Scope and Slugs. This reduces the overall damage per shot, but allows you to fire a single, powerful projectile that can instantly eliminate an enemy with a headshot from up to 50 meters away.
For the Magazine attachment, you’ll need to choose between having more bullets or improved weapon control and aiming speed. The 7 Shell Tube increases your magazine size to 8, which slightly slows down your aiming speed, but allows you to fire for longer and engage multiple enemies without reloading as often – a significant advantage in many situations.
