Best Machine Guns in BF6

Light machine guns in Battlefield 6 are harder to handle than other weapons, but they excel at long distances and can keep enemies pinned down, stopping them from healing. While just as deadly as any other weapon in the game, they require players to adjust how they play.

This guide ranks all the Light Machine Guns (LMGs) in *Battlefield 6*, judging how powerful they are and how well they perform on different maps and in various game modes. If you’re looking to improve your skills as a machine gunner, this should help you choose the best weapon for your playstyle.

Best Light Machine Guns in BF6

  1. M250
  2. M240L
  3. M60
  4. DSR-IAR
  5. RPKM
  6. MG123K
  7. L110
  8. KTS100

We created this list by evaluating how well each weapon performs and how easily it can be used at both close and long distances. Since most maps in *Battlefield 6* feature a variety of engagement ranges—with some maps being more compact than others—the best machine gun should be effective no matter the distance. However, we still acknowledge that weapons designed for specific situations have their strengths. Here’s a breakdown of why we ranked each weapon as we did.

M250

The King of Consistency

The M250 performs very similarly to the M277 in Battlefield 6. Both weapons deliver consistent damage, hitting enemies for 25 damage to the body at distances up to 80 meters and even further. While considered a long-range weapon, the M250’s fire rate of 675 RPM also makes it effective in close-quarters combat.

One major drawback of the M250 is its limited magazine size. It initially comes with a 50-round magazine, and unlocking the larger 100-round version requires significant effort – you need to reach Rank 22 with the weapon and spend 55 attachment points. Despite this, the M250 is a dependable weapon at any distance, and with a solid position, it can easily take down enemy infantry.

M240L

High-Caliber Firepower

The M240L is similar to the M250, but with more punch. While it can deal 25 damage per body shot at 80 meters, it really shines up close, capable of eliminating enemies with just three body shots within 10 meters. It fires at 600 rounds per minute, which feels more manageable than the M250 at medium and longer ranges, and remains a solid weapon at those distances when used with a mount or bipod.

Similar to the M250, the M240L initially comes with a small magazine holding just 50 bullets. While a larger 100-round magazine is available, it’s more affordable, costing 25 points compared to the M250’s 55-point magazine.

M/60

The Ol’ Reliable

The M/60 has a slow rate of fire, but it packs a punch. Like the previous two guns, it can kill an enemy with just 3 bullets at close range, and 4 bullets from a distance of 80+ meters. It’s also very accurate, and its slower firing speed actually makes it more comfortable to use than some other weapons.

The M/60 starts with a large 100-round magazine and hits hard, but in Battlefield 6, it’s easily outmatched by assault rifles or SMGs in close combat. While you can eliminate enemies quickly with just a few shots, you’ll probably be killed before you can fire more than twice if someone catches you from the side or behind. Despite this weakness, the M/60’s ability to kill with only three bullets and its accuracy at longer ranges make it a strong weapon.

DRS-IAR

The Assault Rifle in Disguise

The DRS-IAR is based on the real-world M27 rifle and, like its historical counterpart, excels as a weapon for providing covering fire and taking down enemies at a distance. In Battlefield 6, it’s a versatile gun that can also quickly eliminate enemies up close. It generally deals more damage at longer ranges than most carbines, and with the right modifications, it can be configured as either a powerful support weapon or a nimble rifle for fast-paced engagements.

This LMG is generally excellent, but it feels a bit slow out of the box. Reloads take a while, and it’s noticeably heavier than other weapons like assault rifles, SMGs, and carbines, which impacts how quickly you can aim down sights.

RPKM

High Accuracy, Low Recoil

The RPKM and DRS-IAR share a similar feel, resembling assault rifles. However, while the DRS-IAR excels in close combat, the RPKM is better at medium range. It fires at a consistent rate of 553 rounds per minute and, on average, takes 5 bullets to eliminate an enemy from 15 to 80+ meters. Though it’s not the fastest weapon, the RPKM can be very effective if you can surprise your opponents.

While the RPKM isn’t quite as strong at medium to long ranges as the top three weapons on this list, it reloads much faster because it uses standard AK-style magazines.

M123K

The Cheesemaker

The M123K is the fastest light machine gun in BF6, firing at an impressive 830 rounds per minute and dealing up to 25 damage. It can take down enemies very quickly, and it’s surprisingly easy to control. While designed for close-quarters combat, the M123K can effectively hit targets beyond 80 meters – but you’ll need to use a bipod and/or fire in short bursts to maintain accuracy at that distance.

If you just want a machine gun to quickly eliminate enemies, the M123K is a great choice, particularly if you’re playing the Support role to benefit from its handling improvements. It’s really fun to use on maps like Siege of Cairo, but it can be less accurate at long distances unless you customize it properly.

L110

General Purpose Support Weapon

The LMG is a solid weapon right from the start and works well at any distance without needing many adjustments. Its firing speed of 720 rounds per minute makes it reliable from 10 to 80 meters, and it’s hard to go wrong with it. However, the M123K is a clear improvement over the L110. Both guns have the same damage output, but the M123K’s faster firing rate makes it more effective in almost every situation.

The L110 and M123K are very similar, so if you enjoy one, you’ll probably like the other just as much.

KTS100 MK8

Extreme Accuracy and Ease-of-Use

The KTS100 MK8 is built for delivering precise, sustained fire at long distances. It has very little recoil, and importantly, it stays remarkably accurate even when firing in long bursts. While most weapons in Battlefield 6 suffer a significant loss of accuracy as they heat up, the KTS100 is different – it maintains its precision for around 20 shots, and even after that, the accuracy drop is minimal.

While the KTS100 is accurate and has low recoil, it doesn’t feel powerful compared to other light machine guns. It fires at the same rate as the M/60, but deals less damage, and its damage drops off quickly at longer ranges – it has the lowest damage of any LMG at 80 meters. Overall, players will likely find that other weapons perform better in most situations.
