Highguard is a new team-based shooter where three players on each side battle it out. The goal is to destroy the opposing team’s base – the first team to do so wins! It combines fast-paced shooting with fantasy elements, making it a fresh and different experience in the shooter genre.
Players can find a lot of different weapons in Highguard, either by finding them while exploring or by buying and trading. While you can technically use any weapon, some are much more effective than others. Here’s a ranking of all the weapons available, from the best choices to the ones you might want to skip.
S-Tier: God Tier Weapons
Saber Rifle
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Assault Rifle | Legs: 18×3 (54 max) Body: 18×3 (54 max) Head: 27×3 (81 max) | N/A |
Currently, the Saber Rifle is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, especially in Highguard. It’s a burst-fire assault rifle with the highest damage output of any in its class. A perfectly aimed burst – all three shots hitting the head – can deal up to 81 damage, allowing players to quickly eliminate opponents with Level 1 Armor or higher in as few as three hits.
Okay, so the Saber Rifle? It’s really good, honestly. It does take a bit of precision, but it’s super easy to handle, and it’s awesome whether you’re right in someone’s face or taking shots from way across the map. If you can consistently hit your targets, it’s hands-down the best primary weapon in the game right now, in my opinion.
Kraken
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Shotgun | Legs: 9.9×10 (99 max) Body: 9.9×10 (99 max) Head: 14.8×10 (148 max) | Fires Two Burst Shots |
The Kraken is the most effective weapon for close-quarters combat. This powerful pump-action shotgun can eliminate an enemy in just two shots if one is a headshot and all the pellets connect. However, its damage drops significantly at longer ranges because fewer pellets are likely to hit the target.
The Kraken is best used as a backup weapon, perfect for starting close-range battles or quickly switching to when enemies get too near. The upgraded Legendary version is even more powerful, firing two shots with each trigger pull. In fact, the Legendary Kraken is the only weapon in the game capable of instantly defeating an opponent, no matter their armor, as long as all the pellets connect and at least one shot hits the head.
Longhorn
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Marksman Weapon | Legs: 65 (25 Repeater) Body: 65 (25 Repeater) Head: 97 (37 Repeater) | Greatly damages structures (Basebreaker) Fire a burst shot of two bullets (Double Shot) Full-auto alteration (Repeater) |
The Longhorn is a unique and powerful pistol, currently the only one of its kind in the game. Even in its basic form (Uncommon to Rare quality), it deals a lot of damage with each shot. It can instantly kill enemies with Level 2 Armor or lower with a headshot, and take down those with Level 3 or 4 Armor in as few as three shots if one of those hits is a headshot. While it has excellent range, the Longhorn fires much slower than any other weapon.
What really makes the Longhorn exceptional is its three Legendary versions. The Basebreaker is great for quickly destroying enemy bases, but the Double Shot and Repeater are truly powerful. The Double Shot fires two bullets at the same time, effectively halving the time it takes to eliminate an enemy. The Repeater keeps the Longhorn’s high damage while significantly increasing how fast it fires, allowing you to take down opponents very quickly.
A-Tier: Great Meta Weapons
Dynasty
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Assault Rifle | Legs: 14 Body: 14 Head: 25 | Greatly damages structures |
The Dynasty is a fully automatic assault rifle that packs a punch – it deals more damage per shot than any other fully automatic weapon. However, this power comes with increased recoil, especially at longer distances. It’s reliable at medium range, with clear iron sights, and the recoil is minimal if you slightly pull down while shooting. The recoil becomes more noticeable at long range.
The Dynasty truly becomes a top-tier choice thanks to its Legendary upgrade. At this level, it can break down even heavily fortified walls with remarkable speed. This makes it incredibly useful for quickly opening up defenses in the late game, reducing the need to swap to a different item for siege attacks.
Viper
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| SMG | Legs: 10 (23 Legendary) Body: 10 (23 Legendary) Head: 15 (46 Legendary) | Increased Damage but Reduced Firerate |
The Viper is the stronger of the two SMGs. It fires incredibly fast, making it very effective in close combat, and has great hipfire accuracy for players who like to move and shoot. While it’s not very accurate at longer distances, it can still be useful if you’re not too far from your target.
The Viper excels in individual fights, but players may need to reload quickly when facing two opponents. The Legendary version is particularly powerful. It has a slightly faster time to kill and is easier to handle, making it effective even from a distance.
Ranger
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Marksman Weapon | Legs: 85 (25 Legendary) Body: 85 (25 Legendary) Head: 148 (43 Legendary) | Full-Auto Alteration |
The Ranger can be a tricky weapon for new players because it’s a sniper rifle that requires precise aiming. But once you get the hang of it, it’s potentially one of the most powerful guns you can use. It’s perfect for fighting from a distance, and a headshot can deal a massive 148 damage, making it a reliable choice in any situation.
The Legendary version of this gun is also excellent, but it significantly changes how it plays. When upgraded to Legendary, the Ranger transforms into a fully automatic Marksman Rifle, sacrificing some damage per shot for a much faster firing rate and a larger magazine. While incredibly powerful in this form, it no longer has the high, single-shot damage that the original gun is famous for.
Big Rig
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Special Weapons | Legs: 30 Body: 30 Head: 37 | N/A |
The Big Rig is the final A-Tier weapon, and it’s unique because it’s the only Special Weapon obtained through Supply Drops. It’s widely considered one of the most powerful automatic weapons in the game, capable of quickly defeating opponents even with full Level 4 armor. While devastating at close range when fired from the hip, skilled players can also achieve good results with it at longer distances if they manage its recoil.
The Big Rig is a powerful weapon with a large magazine, but it’s slow. It’s most effective when used as a stationary defense, eliminating enemies up close during a Raid. However, it has some drawbacks: it only appears in later rounds, has limited ammunition, and if you lose it, you won’t find it again until the next Supply Drop arrives.
B-Tier: Good Meta Weapons
Vanguard
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Assault Rifle | Legs: 9 Body: 9 Head: 14 | N/A |
While the Vanguard isn’t the most powerful AR in terms of damage per shot, it’s still a strong choice in Highguard. It has the fastest rate of fire of any assault rifle, which helps it compete in terms of time-to-kill, and it’s noticeably more stable than the Dynasty, making it easier to aim accurately. This stability, combined with its versatility, makes the Vanguard a great option for both running and gunning and close-quarters combat, and it’s a reliable weapon for any player.
Paladin
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Shotgun | Legs: 7×5 (35 max) Body: 7×5 (35 max) Head: 10.4 (52 max) | Greatly damages structures (Basebreaker) Increased magazine size but slower reload (Drum Magazine) |
The Paladin is a powerful shotgun that’s a great addition to any player’s loadout. It’s best used in close-quarters combat, where it deals significant damage and doesn’t require pinpoint accuracy thanks to its large magazine and automatic firing. Its effectiveness drops off at longer ranges. The Legendary versions offer unique benefits: the Basebreaker excels at destroying structures, and the Drum Magazine significantly increases the weapon’s capacity.
Rocket Launcher
| Weapon Type | Damage | Rare Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Item | Min: 50 per rocket Max: 137 per rocket | Deal significantly more damage to structures (Thermite) Lock up to 3 targets and fire homing missiles (Multi-Lock) |
The Rocket Launcher is last in the B-Tier, and while it’s not a primary weapon for direct combat, it can still hurt opponents. On average, players can deal 125 damage with a single shot, which is significant when combined with other weapons. Its real strength, though, is as a tool for breaking into bases during raids.
A standard Rocket Launcher rocket can break through a normal wall, but it takes two rockets to destroy a stronger, reinforced wall. The Thermite rocket is especially powerful, as it can destroy a reinforced wall with just one hit. There’s also a rare version that can lock onto and destroy three walls simultaneously, making it a great choice to grab.
C-Tier: Average Weapons
Corsair
| Weapon Type | Damage | Legendary Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| SMG | Legs: 12×6 (72 max) Body: 12×6 (72 max) Head: 18×6 (108 max) | N/A |
The Corsair is a perfectly good gun, especially in close-quarters combat when you can hit your targets. It can even eliminate Level 4 armored enemies with just three bursts if you land a headshot in at least one of those bursts and all the bullets connect. While this is a strong capability, it’s not quite as effective as the Viper’s ability to spray bullets continuously. The Corsair does have significant upward recoil with its second and third shots, so players need to fire in shorter bursts or actively pull down on the gun to stay on target.
Blast Hammer
| Weapon Type | Damage | Rare Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Item | Direct Hit: 1,000 (75 with no ammo) Charged Hit: 1,000 | Slam to create a wall in front of you (Earthquake) Slam to create a tall smokescreen (Smokebringer) |
The Blast Hammer is a unique weapon best known for destroying buildings. However, it’s incredibly powerful against players too – a fully charged or direct hit will instantly eliminate them, as long as you have ammo. A charged hit can even take out several players at the same time, though this doesn’t happen often. It’s a fantastic choice for raiding and quickly breaking through multiple walls.
Zipline
| Weapon Type | Damage | Rare Variant Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Raid Item | N/A | Unbreakable zipline and increased speed (Unbreakable) Turn invisible when ziplining (Invisible) |
In Highguard raids, the Zipline is a must-have. Every team benefits from having at least one player use it. It’s essentially a portable zipline with an extremely long reach, letting players quickly move around the map and change positions. However, riders are very vulnerable to attack while on the zipline.
