One Piece,” one of the longest-running and highly acclaimed anime, continues to impress viewers. The animation quality has noticeably escalated since the start of the Wano arc, attracting a multitude of new followers to this captivating series.
For quite some time now, the thrilling escapades of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirate crew have kept viewers captivated, leaving many eager for more. Each installment of One Piece brims with excitement, action, and laughter. Certain episodes resonate deeply with fans, while others don’t quite reach the same level of impact. These particular episodes, however, stand out as the most significant in the series.
In the Wano Country arc, Toei stepped up its efforts and ensured that every episode was filled with high-quality animation. Currently, the story is focused on Egghead Island, which is home to Dr. Vegapunk, the smartest person in the world. Despite the arc being in its early stages, it has already produced some of the best episodes in the series to date. As a result, the list has been updated to include new entries that fall in the bracket of the best One Piece episode.
27 Clash! Shanks vs. Eustass Kid (Episode 1112)
- Egghead Arc
Following their departure from Wano, there was some uncertainty about where Eustass Kid and his crew were headed next. It wasn’t until later that viewers discovered that the Supernova was making a journey to Elbaf, the land of the giants. Eustass Kid harbored ambitions for the One Piece and was prepared to go to extraordinary measures to secure it.
Yet, there existed a significant obstacle for him, and it was none other than Shanks, one of the Four Emperors. As soon as Shanks perceived that Kid was on the verge of destroying a fleet, Shanks swiftly moved against the Supernova and employed Divine Departure to terminate the skirmish. The battle in the manga was brief, so the anime skillfully expanded it with intricate details. Moreover, the scene where Shanks rushes towards Kid was exceptionally well-animated.
26 For the Beloved Pupil – The Fist of Vice Admiral Garp! (Episode 1114)
- Egghead Arc
Over countless years, enthusiasts of One Piece have eagerly anticipated witnessing the abilities of Monkey D. Garp. Known as a Vice Admiral, this character is a living legend who has been actively serving since the era of Gol D. Roger. Intriguingly, he is the only Marine known to have cornered and nearly taken the life of Roger.
In this specific installment, Garp managed to get to Hachinosu at last. His mission was to rescue his pupil, Koby, who had been taken captive by the Blackbeard Pirates. Typically, Garp wouldn’t set foot on that island; but feeling the need to display his might, he leaped upwards and employed both his formidable Armament and Conqueror’s Haki to execute a Galaxy Impact. The force of this attack was so immense it threatened to level an entire town on the island. Without a doubt, the sight of Garp charging forward with such a destructive move left viewers with chills running down their spines.
25 Powers on a Different Level! Luffy vs. Lucci! (Episode 1100)
- Egghead Arc
Rob Lucci and Luffy initially clashed during Water 7, with Rob emerging as the winner. Their rematch occurred within the Enies Lobby arc, this time ending with Luffy claiming victory. With their overall tally even, they found themselves with a chance to resolve things during the Egghead confrontation.
In their battle, Luffy and Lucci unleashed their transformed Devil Fruit abilities. It seemed like a tight match, but it turned out that Luffy dominated Lucci. Each moment of the episode was visually stunning, showcasing the meticulous work Toei put into its production.
24 The Winner Takes All! Law vs. Blackbeard! (Episode 1093)
- Egghead Arc
After departing from Wano, Trafalgar Law encountered his first significant hurdle in the form of the Blackbeard Pirates. Law and his comrades were unexpectedly attacked by the pirate crew around Winner Island. It was known that Blackbeard had been anticipating either Law, Kid, or Luffy to appear.
Upon arriving at Winner Island, Law encountered Blackbeard. Their encounter turned physical, with a fierce battle ensuing. Remarkably, Law managed to injure Blackbeard during this struggle. However, the outcome of the fight was not disclosed until a later time.
23 The Strike of an Ifrit! Sanji vs. Queen (Episode 1061)
- Wano Country Arc
After the time jump, Sanji hasn’t had many significant battles under his belt. The Whole Cake Island saga significantly shaped Sanji’s character, yet he didn’t encounter a formidable adversary. However, in the Wano Country arc, Sanji engaged in an impressive battle against Queen, marking one of his first major fights.
The battle was quite emotional for the Straw Hat as Queen used all the technological weapons belonging to the Vinsmoke family. The episode beautifully encapsulated the struggle going on inside Sanji’s mind and how he eventually embraced his genetic enhancements to create a new fighting style to take down Queen.
22 The Three-Sword Style of the Supreme King! Zoro vs. King (Episode 1062)
- Wano Country Arc
In a tough battle, Roronoa Zoro found himself struggling against King, whose Lunarian attributes made regular attacks ineffective and compounded the issue as Enma persistently depleted his Haki. Faced with these challenges, Zoro needed an unconventional solution to turn things around.
Thankfully, Zoro understood that the sword was challenging him, enabling him to master it. The battle between Zoro and King reached its peak, leaving spectators utterly amazed. Each collision frame, combined with the flawless animation, transformed the episode into a delightful viewing experience.
21 Clutch! A Demon Incarnate, Robin! (Episode 1044)
- Wano Country Arc
Initially appearing as a skilled assassin serving under Crocodile, Nico Robin later transitioned into a supportive role within the Straw Hat crew. Despite this change, she continued to display impressive fighting abilities. Following the time skip, Robin’s participation in the story has been relatively limited, giving off an impression of being a mere remnant of her past glory.
During the Wano Country arc, Nico Robin finally got her moment in the spotlight as she faced off against Black Maria, one of the formidable members of Tobi Roppo. To emerge victorious, Nico Robin needed to devise a new strategy. The artists responsible for this episode emphasized the darker aspects of Robin’s character during the animation process.
20 Enter Shanks! The Ultimate War Ends at Last (Episode 489)
- Marineford Arc
As a dedicated fan, let me share that the epic clash known as the Summit War stood out as the most monumental struggle within the series – until the daring assault on Onigashima took its place. The Summit War brought together some of the most notable figures in our world. Among them were those valiantly striving to save Ace, while others relentlessly pursued his capture, seeking his life instead.
Despite the deaths of Whitebeard and Ace, the conflict continued unabated. Koby attempted to act as a hero, but this earned him the anger of Akainu. The Admiral was on the verge of sending Koby to his doom in flames, but Shanks intervened just in time. As captain of the Red Hair Pirates, Shanks pleaded for the war to cease, so that the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard wouldn’t be made worse by further bloodshed.
19 Straw Hat Luffy – The Man Who Will Become The Pirate King (Episode 1015)
- Wano Country Arc
Title of the 1015th episode holds significant importance, as it primarily revolves around Luffy’s experiences up until now. The episode features a flashback scene where Ace converses with Yamato about Luffy and his aspirations. Additionally, it subtly highlights similarities between Luffy and Gol D. Roger.
The team behind the anime created an exceptional animation for the episode, and the storyline was equally impressive. Additionally, this episode marks the start of “Roof Piece” – a section that many fans regard as the finest in the Wano Country saga due to its captivating action sequences.
18 A Barrage Of Powerful Techniques! The Fierce Attacks Of The Worst Generation! (Episode 1017)
- Wano Country Arc
As a gamer, I found myself deeply engrossed in an intense battle between the fresh blood and the seasoned veterans. The Worst Generation fighters were putting up a valiant effort, trying to land substantial blows on the two Yonko titans. However, Big Mom and Kaido seemed to be having a grand old time, eagerly watching how far these Supernovas could stretch their limits.
After building up our courage, my team and I dared to strike at the two beasts obstructing our path. With all the Supernovas unleashing their attacks on Kaido, it seemed like we might just turn the tables. This episode was a blast, keeping us hooked from start to finish!
17 Overwhelming Strength! The Straw Hats Come Together (Episode 1000)
- Wano Country Arc
Episode 1000 of “One Piece” is destined to be remembered! As a milestone in the series, there was an immense amount of anticipation surrounding it. However, the team at Toei Animation did not disappoint – they reintroduced the iconic “We Are,” but gave it a fresh twist using the latest designs of the Straw Hat Pirates.
As a lifelong fan of One Piece, I must say that this particular episode really brought back some powerful nostalgic feelings for me. It was a masterful blend of past and present, skillfully illustrating the stark contrast between the two eras. Moreover, it didn’t disappoint in terms of action, delivering the much-anticipated battle between Kaido and Oden’s loyal retainers. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout, relishing every punch, parry, and countermove. This episode was truly a testament to the enduring quality of One Piece’s storytelling, reminding me why it remains one of my all-time favorite series.
16 My Crewmate’s Pain Is My Pain, Zoro Fights Prepared To Die. (Episode 377)
- Thriller Bark Arc
After the time jump, Zoro has faced relatively few challenges from opponents, which is quite different from his past adventures while the Straw Hat crew was in the New World. For instance, during the Thriller Bark arc, the Straw Hats had a tough time overpowering Gecko Moria and his team. The crew was left bruised and only Sanji and Zoro managed to stay on their feet. However, they faced an additional obstacle: Bartholomew Kuma was present on Thriller Bark, and he was assigned the mission to take out Luffy.
Kuma prepared to execute his task, but was intercepted by Zoro. Astonished by Zoro’s courage, Kuma suggested a deal where the Straw Hats would absorb all of Luffy’s suffering. Without hesitation, Zoro plunged into Luffy’s agony-inducing bubble, and within moments, his body was splattered with blood. Upon waking up from being knocked out by Zoro, Sanji was taken aback to see the latter drenched in blood. When Sanji inquired about the incident, Zoro simply said, “Nothing transpired.” This instance solidified Zoro’s reputation as one of the most badass characters, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his captain.
15 Thank You Merry! The Sea Of Separation In The Snow (Episode 312)
- Enies Lobby Arc
The Go-Merry was the initial seaworthy vessel belonging to the Straw Hat Pirate crew, which they received from a servant of Kaya, named Merry. This ship significantly contributed to their adventures as they navigated various islands across the vast Grand Line.
Over an extended period of time, the Going Merry, burdened by the Straw Hats, finally reached its breaking point during the Enies Lobby storyline. The accumulated damage sustained throughout multiple arcs left it beyond repair and unable to sail further. Following their triumph over CP-9, the Straw Hats bid a poignant farewell to their beloved ship, an emotional goodbye that surely stirred tears in the hearts of many.
14 Destructive! One Shot, One Kill – Raimei Hakke! (Episode 915)
- Wano Country Arc
In this initial episode, it became apparent that Kaido was significantly stronger than Luffy. Upon witnessing Kaido destroying Oden Castle, Luffy, enraged by the perceived harm to his comrades, launched attacks against a tipsy Kaido.
Despite Luffy delivering more blows, Kaido’s final form proved too powerful. When Kaido transformed into his human form, he retaliated with Raimei Hakke, knocking out Luffy. The difference in power was striking, as Luffy’s attacks merely served to rouse Kaido, who then swiftly defeated Luffy with a single blow.
13 Raid! Inheriting Oden’s Will (Episode 995)
- Wano Country Arc
In this episode, Oden’s heartwarming flashback won over the hearts of the One Piece community, revealing the reasons behind the Scabbards’ selfless sacrifice for him. The Scabbards harbored deep animosity towards Kaido for years, and when their moment to express it arrived, it touched the fans deeply.
The episode showed that despite the excruciating pain, the Scabbards continued to adore Oden and continue to carry his will.
12 Feelings Put Into Fists! Luffy’s Full-Power Gatling (Episode 309)
- Enies Lobby Arc
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but appreciate Rob Lucci, who truly shines in the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs, standing out as one of the most formidable antagonists in the series. In his epic battle against Luffy, CP-9’s hitman often took the lead throughout the fight.
As I lay flat on the battlefield, battered by Lucci’s relentless blows, I needed something, someone to rally me up for this last stand. That someone was Usopp, who with a fierce determination in his eyes, urged me to get back on my feet and fight for my comrades. The world spun around me as Lucci and I exchanged powerful punches, threatening to knock me off balance. But the promise I made to Usopp echoed in my mind, fueling a surge of energy that propelled me forward. With a final, desperate roar, I unleashed my last attack, a testament to the friendship that had sustained me through this grueling battle. And with a grunt, Rob Lucci fell, defeated.
11 Shanks Moves! Ceremony To The Rampaging Age! (Episode 316)
- Post-Enies Lobby Arc
In this installment, we find two powerful pirate lords, Shanks and Whitebeard, at the center of events. The Marines made every effort to keep these two Yonko apart, but their attempts proved ineffective and they ultimately failed spectacularly.
Shanks’ arrival on Whitebeard’s vessel stirred quite a commotion, causing everyone to stand up in astonishment. Using his Conqueror’s Haki, Shanks inflicted damage to the ship and incapacitated several members of the Whitebeard Pirates. As the episode drew to a close, Whitebeard and Shanks locked swords, creating a shockwave that split the very sky – a battle etched into pirate lore forevermore.
10 The End Of The Battle! Oden Vs. Kaido! (Episode 972)
- Wano Country Arc
Previously noted, Oden’s flashback transformed him into a beloved character within the storyline. Originally an outsider, he eventually rose to become the champion of Wano. It’s clear that Oden faced numerous challenges during his voyage, but overcame them all.
In this specific episode, Oden confronts Kaido. He relentlessly attacks his adversary, ready to deliver the final blow, but Kurozumi Higurashi cleverly diverts Oden’s attention. This diversion creates an opportunity for Kaido to strike a decisive blow against Oden, causing him to lose consciousness.
9 Big News! An Incident That Will Affect The Seven Warlords (Episode 957)
- Wano Country Arc
In this installment, we have the honor of having it directed by Megumi Ishitani, marking the first of two consecutive episodes. The Seven Warlords, a formidable power throughout history, have not only been a force to be contended with but have also lent their might to the World Government during the Paramount War.
After the Levely’s decision, the Seven Warlords are removed from their positions. With the dissolution of the Warlord system, the Marines start chasing the remaining Warlords. Furthermore, the annulment of the Warlord system is accompanied by unsettling news about Sabo, causing dismay among the Revolutionary Army members.
8 A Legendary Battle! Garp And Roger (Episode 958)
- Wano Country Arc
For years, the Four Emperors, also known as the Yonko, have instilled terror worldwide due to their astonishing power. However, for quite some time, the rewards placed on the Yonko remained a mystery. But with the airing of episode 958, this enigma was finally lifted.
