At the start of Octopath Traveler 0, players will face some difficult decisions before beginning their journey. Once the initial tutorial is complete, they’ll be asked to choose a path focused on Fame, Power, or Wealth.

This guide explains the important choices you’ll make regarding Desires in Octopath Traveler II, detailing the consequences of your decision, what will change in the game, and what will remain the same.

Should You Choose Wealth, Power, or Fame in Octopath Traveler 0?

Once the initial story in Octopath Traveler 0 is complete, players can choose to begin one of three main storylines, known as Paths: Wealth, Fame, or Power.

So, I’m really getting into this part of the game where Nostro the Scholar asks you what you really want. It’s basically a huge decision point – you tell him what path you’re after, and that locks you into fighting one of the three big bad guys in the story. Here’s the breakdown of each path, explained in detail…

  • Master of Fame (Villain: Auguste The Genius Playwright)
  • Master of Power (Villain: Tytos The Hero)
  • Master of Wealth (Villain: Herminia The Covetous Witch)

After completing the Rekindling the Flame Wishvale Reconstruction Quest, players will embark on a main quest that culminates in a confrontation with one of the three villains previously mentioned.

Depending on their preferred playstyle, players can choose between the Master of Fame and Master of Wealth storylines, as the starting quests for both are located close together. The Master of Wealth path sends players to the Woodlands to find Bargello in Valore and help organize a revolt against the Covetous Witch. This path is especially good for beginners or those with lower-level characters.

Okay, so in Master of Fame, I need to head to the Flatlands. That’s where I’ll run into Auguste, and then eventually Schwartz. They’re going to set me on the trail of this playwright… who also happens to be a serial killer. Sounds intense!

Finally, we recommend choosing the Master of Power quest line. It’s the most challenging one, so you’ll need a well-developed team – at least eight characters at level 25 – and you’ll need to explore the Frostlands, especially the city of Emberglow.

Players can freely switch between questlines at any time through the Quest tab in the main menu.

None of the three main storylines are simple, and with over 120 hours of gameplay available, players are welcome to take their time and concentrate on rebuilding the town of Wishvale instead.
